December 11, 201212 yr Is that all?? The initial allocation to stores yes and obviously they don't want to overload stores after last year - I'm sure the second allocation will be bigger after the sales today, Also HMV are not the only place to be selling the physical - Tesco, Sainsbury's, Asda and Morrisons are too.
December 11, 201212 yr I said 100-150k under the assumption Jahmene would win but I think James will do a lot better than that. Maybe over 200k. Okay I was a bit out (although technically wherever he lands it'll still be 'over 200k') I wonder how well Jahmene would have done if he had won, I'm sure he would have done a lot worse despite consistently receiving more votes than James until his post-singoff bounce-back. December 11, 201212 yr Posted this in the midweek thread but its probably more suited to here - I think James is easily going to clear 500,000 sales this week - Taking into account the fact that the CD single is being sold at HMV, Asda, Tesco, Sainsbury's and Morrisons that equates to around 3,000 stores selling the CD - If they all manage to sell *only* 50 copies in each store this week thats 150,000 sales added to the 187,000 figure [Total of 337,000] and thats without 5 days of downloads and any online orders for the CD from HMV, Amazon, Play etc, still to come.
December 11, 201212 yr Looking on iTunes James Arthur is currently selling around 10 times the amount will.i.am is selling. Assuming that will.i.am would have had first week number 1 sales of around 80k (I have no idea to be honest) that puts James on roughly 800k, which is a ridiculous amount. Taking into account the obvious trail off in sales towards the end of the week I'd say it's possible he'll do 500k... I know X Factor winner sales have been suffering lately, but I think the decision to make this a charity single has paid off on Simon Cowell's part. It's obvious he's done it in an attempt to rescue the show which is clearly on a popularity decline, but it appears to have worked, and whatever the intentions it can only be seen as a good thing that so much money will go to charity :)
December 12, 201212 yr Whilst it's outstripped my initial prediction of 250 k (well it probably will today at any rate) I still suspect 500k is beyond this track this week!
December 12, 201212 yr I was hpoelessly out - I was basing my guess on a) X-Factor ratings seriously down this year b) It's not a very good song c) It's not a very good version of a not very good song,
December 12, 201212 yr He has roughly a 560% lead over will.i.am and Britney on iTunes, if that helps. :) Edited December 12, 201212 yr by MyDecember
