Posted December 13, 201212 yr So with the XF final over us the post xmas chart could already be taking shape. This time last year Coldplay performed Paradise on the XF and it stayed high in the itunes chart before flying off the itunes shelves in the week after xmas claiming no1 with over 100k in sales after slowly rising the chart for over 3 months. Stay by Rihanna is already up to 3 on itunes and is alisted on radio 1 - could it be the biggest benificary of the gift card week or will Taylors massive 2nd single rise to no1 - or anything else people can see or what hasnt been released yet? What does buzzjack think?
December 13, 201212 yr Gangnam Style. Either that or Bruno Mars. It won't be Rihanna/Taylor for sure. Edited December 13, 201212 yr by Michael Bubré
December 13, 201212 yr I have a bad feeling that Bruno will get #1 thanks to low sales and lack of competition, but hopefully will.i.am or Rihanna can stop him.
December 13, 201212 yr Still don't understand how that awful Paradise song made it to number 1. It was one of their weakest singles. I'd prefer something new to be number 1 and no Gangnam Style.
December 13, 201212 yr Hopefully Rihanna. Next year will be interesting now Rihanna isn't releasing club bangers as the music scene tends to follow her, will we get a load of 2nd rate 'Diamonds' type songs?
December 13, 201212 yr Most likely Rihanna or will.i.am. Hopefully knocked off by Vato Gonzalez the next week, just for the lols
December 13, 201212 yr NO WAY will it be will.i.am & Britney! :P I don't see why people think this is going to be so massive!
December 13, 201212 yr NO WAY will it be will.i.am & Britney! :P I don't see why people think this is going to be so massive! Because it would be #1 if it wasn't for the X Factor dominance?
December 13, 201212 yr Because it would be #1 if it wasn't for the X Factor dominance? It may have been number one this week, but that doesn't mean it will be in the first chart of 2013.
December 13, 201212 yr Airplay is just starting though with Radio 1, I'd say will.i.am has a good chance. Bruno Mars would be alright.
December 13, 201212 yr I would say will.i.am or Rihanna, just depends if both tracks are still floating aorund in the top 5.
December 13, 201212 yr NO WAY will it be will.i.am & Britney! :P I don't see why people think this is going to be so massive! Because it got to #1 on iTunes in less than 24 hours with little exposure... It could be one of the year's later hits (e.g. "Locked out of Heaven") that's performed on one of the Top of the Pops specials! Hopefully not "Gangnam Style", either way.
December 13, 201212 yr I think most likely Bruno Mars. But I'm not really sure, there's quite a few contenders.
December 13, 201212 yr Will.I.Am and Britney Spears. Whatever it is it will be number 1 on my birthday.
December 13, 201212 yr Gangnam Style. Either that or Bruno Mars. It won't be Rihanna/Taylor for sure. Gangnam style no chance. I think people are grossly exaggerating the potential for this track to somehow reach no.1 again in the New Year. It's already been no.1, selling consistently for weeks and sold almost 700k and it's likely to drop out of the top 10 this week. Yes, there will be a New Year party boost that week and coupled with the general collapse in sales should see it rise a fair few places, but no.1? No chance.
December 13, 201212 yr ^ I know what you mean, but in the US last New Years Party Rock Anthem went back to #2 on iTunes (blocked by Sexy and I Know It), after having been in the top 10 for like 25 weeks by that point (and dropping out a couple of times). So clearly that sort of thing is possible. But it probably won't happen to Gangnam Style. Edited December 13, 201212 yr by Eric_Blob
December 13, 201212 yr The only people that have a chance of being number one in the first week of 2013 Is Bruno Mars/ Scream & Shout.
