I think Miracle is rather superb, as is The Road. I was worried with them being away so long, it was going to be all a bit of a let down this time, but not thus far.

I don't know why I'm dignifying this with a response, but it is more of a rock song than a pop song yes. The "Russia" video that they posted a few days ago (YT it, I can't here) starts with 34 seconds of amazing synth. This obviously isn't that, but it's a good song in a Museplay (or Coldmuse?) kind of way.

Aah, cheers for telling me. :D I've never liked Hurts before so I was surprised to hear this new style of music for them, they might make some good music (in my opinion) if they carry on making more music like this song. ^_^

The thing is there's A LOT of rock music, and saying such things IS a generalisation even if you think otherwise. Phrases like 'the song had a rock(ish) vibe to it' are MADE for such situations.

I didn't know what to say at that point. I'm not as clever as the other posters on this forum, so I generally struggle to find things to say to describe things. And I don't really understand how saying something that you didn't subconsciously mean is a generalisation.

Amazing!

I thought i'd played Paradise or something for a second, but this is definitely decent. The Road is still so much better (mainly because of the chorus) but even more excited for the album now!

I thought I was listening to Coldplay when I hear this... it's either grower on me or not.

I'm not that keen on "Miracle" :( I love Happiness, especially "Wonderful Life", but this is quite a drastic change in sound to me? Very Muse, as Tom said.

It's very dour and MoR to these ears. Ack.

Not a bad chorus but this whole thing is not where I wanted them to go. Too heavy on the guitars, their beauty was in the soulful vocals matched with the '80s synths.

Coldplay lover that I am, I love Miracle. Not heard The Road yet, will have a listen this weekend.

This tbh. There's a 34 second synthy bit at the start of the Russia video just sounds so perfect I could cry :snif:

The song has actually grown on me but I find the chorus a bit weak.

This has clicked with me. I'm not that bothered about the quite drastic change in direction, although really they've just added guitars to the previous formula, the vocals are still as haunting (not the right word but I dunno how to describe it) as they are on Happiness. The chorus is quite epic, and I can see this being a top 20 hit with a #1 and/or high-selling album (for this time of year).

"Happiness" has to be one of my fave albums of the last 5 years! "Miracle" is clearly the more commercial song over "The Road" however I don't know if this is gonna break them into the mainstream in terms of top 10 single (but I sincerely HOPE so!)
