Still think it will be an easy #1 for them this week. They are bound to sell a bucket load of physicals on Saturday.

Edited by -Desire-

The thing is the #1 for TJC wouldn't even be in doubt if they had released it on Sunday. Still probably one of the most stupid things ever, especially when it is for charity thus it lost a days sales gaining money too :dizzy:

Why is Saturday meant to be a good day for their physicals?

Oh, and Alex's album comment was, um... yeah. I love how HausofKubrick changed his opinion on him after reading that comment though.

 I didn't really change my opinion, i was just stating in the first post that he should be ecstatic with a top 75 hit, after complaining that he isn't getting noticed etc. What got to me was his damning account of the youth of Britain today because they haven't paid attention to his AMAZING new track like they should be doing.

they're not interested, regardless of the quality of the track - which is actually quite a saddening realisation about today's young people imo. The attention spans are so short that people don't appreciate the value of something like a great pop song unless it comes with gimmicks attached.

And I guess wearing a mankini and getting Stephen Fry to record a spoken word version aren't gimmicks? Unless he's being sarky.

(Don't get me wrong, I quite like Stupid Stupid (especially the Beckii Cruel version), and I LOVED Forever Yours. But SS is as close to an actual Christmas novelty record as we're getting this year).

Well it looks like I f***ed that one up rather spectacularly didn't I? :D

Definite lesson learned, as I suspected - online audiences are fickle. The novelty of trying to get into the charts last year has now faded for them and they're not interested, regardless of the quality of the track - which is actually quite a saddening realisation about today's young people imo. The attention spans are so short that people don't appreciate the value of something like a great pop song unless it comes with gimmicks attached.

Anyway:

I feel the opposite. I don't know why everyone else bothers with albums! iTunes makes it a singles market. It means I get to put more emphasis and work into each individual track. It's better for radio and the charts just to push one song at a time (not that it mattered). Most artists release one or two tracks with ten duds and charge you ten quid for it: I just don't release the duds.

This post tells me everything I need to know about you. The irony of you slating other artists for gimmicks with the stunts you pull, then insulting music buyers by saying they have no attention span  Maybe if you made something lasting and worthwhile your music wouldn't be such a slash in the pan. Which brings me to my next point -

As for you not bothering with albums says it all. Some artist pride themselves on making albums that push themselves and their listeners. Not everything is about Itunes and selling, thank god my favourite artist don't think like you or I'd not be sat hear listening to a 21st century song cycle by Tori Amos.

Phrase of the day :D

I wonder if any Xmas songs will remain in the T40 a week Sunday - will their 2-3 day pre-Xmas sales be enough to carry them through the week, or will the iTunes voucher effect swamp them?

 27. L'Americano (feat. The Boys from Made In Chelsea) - The Gypsy Queens

That's today's random new charity release then. I'm just going to assume it's for charity because all of these songs that have randomly burst into the charts in the last couple of weeks have been.

 42. The World Is Ugly - My Chemical Romance

That on the other hand is probably not for charity :P

£1 Fish Man looks likely to climb this week, probably not much but I hope at least top 40! Has there ever been a Pakistani in the top 40 before?

POST OF THE DAY. :D

Ugh. Can't believe that overrated piece of crap is still number 1 (and extending his lead :puke:) ! 'He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother' is much more worthy of being the Christmas number 1, imo. Ugh. (I realise I'm alone so lay off :P)

 05. I Knew You Were Trouble. - Taylor Swift

 26. Lies (Otto Knows Remix) - Burns

 30. Figure 8 - Ellie Goulding

 48. Radioactive - Imagine Dragons

 62. Just One Last Time (feat. Taped Rai) - David Guetta

 63. Don't Save Me - Haim

Well, I strongly disagree on that. I think the majority of artists make at least fairly solid albums, it's mindsets like yours that have helped kill the album market. But whatever.

Anyway, look at Figure 8 smashing all over the shop. #29, #588 and #692 on the singles chart + #361 on the album chart. Hopefully outpeaking Guns And Horses this week?
