I saw Gabby Logan once! I went to the BBC studios and she waved at us and drove off in her Mini. It was the saddest moment of my life. :( :kink:

I actually switched over to BBC1, after the first 15 mins, not really my thing really.
It was as CAMP and FROTHY as you'd expect. Good fun but a total dud of an idea all in all. Obviously ITV wanted a piece of Tom Daley (don't we ALL), came up with this concept overnight and attempted to shove him into as many shots as possible no matter how irrelevant he was.

It's not an ITV idea. The format has already been a hit in the Netherlands (without Tom Daley of course!)

Regardless, it's obviously a vehicle for Tom Daley whether they've borrowed the idea or not...

I actually ended up watching half of this since the Clare Balding thing on BBC1 was almost as bad and far less funny.

Yes, I'm sure they wouldn't even have considered the format if Tom Daley wasn't avaialble (or looked like Carlos Tevez). Ijust hope that the viewing figures show that a bit of eye candy does not make a good format for a television programme.

At least the Clare Balding thing was based on the premise that some viewers had active brain cells. I thought that programme - or the last 30 minutes or so that I saw - was OK.

This is true entirely. Like when Helen had a little panicky momet before diving, she was so obviously told to do that so Tom coils be shoved on screen for a few more seconds.

However next week has Joey Essex in a speedo so I might have to watch again. Mind numbing as he is, ooft.

This. I watched Jade Ewen dive, and had just had enough - such an awful idea for a show, and I hate Tom Daley which doesn't help.

Much preferred the Britain's Brightest thing, which says a lot about how bad Splash in, as I'd take trashy reality over an intelligence-based programme any day usually.

I actually liked it, it was a really good show. They just need to get the format right so that it appeals more to the general public.

I.e. REMOVE THE SHIT? An obese comedienne (who really wasn't particularly funny) as a sporting judge? A half-hearted professional display which we couldn't actually see because the cameras kept cutting to audience close-ups? Stilted banter by the hosts who are desperately fumbling around for anything to help them stretch 5 people jumping into a pool into a 90 minute show? The commentator making snarky comments about the shite quality of the diving, only for the hosts to contradict him 5 seconds later and fall over themselves as they assure Helen Lederer that her falling into the pool face first was "wonderful"? Leon Taylor trying and failing to be even a second-rate Jason Gardiner? Jade THE PERSONALITY Ewen? Vernon bloody Kay?

You're right. Perhaps then it would appeal to the public.

Tonia Couch should have been a judge instead of the horrific Jo Brand, it really surprises me that she still has the juice to get on prime time. The biggest fail was the actual 'celebs'. Very z list apart from Omid who has at least been in Gladiator and and some other films. The ratings weren't bad but they will be next time because of this.
5.19m for the first episode. Overnights show the second on a similar figure (although they did drop from 5.49-5.19m for the official figure)
