is there ANY chance they can make a last minute rule change- esp. if the song explodes on iTunes and the public outcry is very vocal (like what happened with Blackout in 2007)?

All the updates I've seen have had them at #11, never Top 10.

Bon Jovi went up to #10 late in the night.

I still cant believe David Bowie is at #1, the song sounds so bland as well.

Thanks, that'll be why I didn't notice it. Not receiving a "Top 10 effect", although that was probably to be expected.

I listened to 1 minute of it about an hour ago, not my cup of tea to say the least. The Bon Jovi song however..

Back thanks to the cutest wedding speech ever by Tom Fletcher  "Love is Easy" and "Shine a Light" are also both in the top 1496, but don't feature:

I really rather like it, it's very 'reflective'. But I never expected a 'Life on Mars'.

I also didn't expect it to be no.1 on iTunes either, considering that a small but loyal fanbase would give him a top 75 entry overall.

Although the general consensus here is that it's chart ineligible anyway.

I saw Bon Jovi up to #9 at some point today, around the time Bowie first got to #1.

Maybe 2013 is the year of older acts managing a comeback? Madonna chose the wrong year.

Good news for Kylie. B-)

Bon Jovi were #9 earlier - they were obviously not going to last long in the top 10 but surprised they've dropped out THIS quickly.

'Clique' up to #20 :D Could even re-peak at this rate.

Vato  #36, My Chemical Romance  #44. Ooh at Frank Ocean now nearing the top 40, thought he had peaked already.

Amazing for David Bowie to be no. 1 on iTunes. I went onto Kworb at work and saw Bowie at no. 2 and thought "what?". Then it was no. 1 in the next update. Completely unexpected, as others have said, but I've not been watching the news all day to know. I also agree if 'Where Are We Now' was to sell 100k this week (to 'S&S' 60k for arguments sake) with most of its sales generated today/tomorrow then the track should be allowed to chart. Even if it means dropping 01-25 or something ridiculous. It's this weeks biggest selling individual track.

I thought it was bad enough when 'Paradise' couldn't chart in the UK but was riding high in all European singles chart. If enough people buy a track, that should be recognised. Sadly this ain't anything new - 'Purple Pills' by D12 feat. Eminem was denied no. 1 because one of the CD singles included a free sticker. That's just how the UK charts go. :(

A STICKER?!

Yeah. Another one was You Don't Know by Eminem/50 Cent, it was ineligible to chart for a while also because it came with a free sticker I think. Thankfully that's not going to happen to My Life!

So glad Bowie is at #1. That new song is really good. The second half is GORGEOUS.

THIS!

One Direction - Kiss You  #11

This will probably get into the top 10 tonight.

Thank god. #12 is a CRIMINAL peak for their second best single.

I agree, I really hope this is massive. It's the only one I can properly get behind, although I really liked 'One Thing' and '... Beautiful' too.
