And let's not forget Alexandra Burke - poor girl! Heartbreak On Hold should be up there for Album of the Year!

On a serious note, I'm surprised they snubbed Leona Lewis! :o I know she underperformed but she still had moderate success and she went to BRIT school - surely they be showcasing what amazing talent they helped produce!

I'm not. She's just not that successful or big as she once was. I can definitely understand her snubbing

Exactly.

She surely can't be as bad as she's being made out to be if her album's still charting high a year on from its release?

She's not bad at all, I could even describe as "good" if I was being kind. That's different to exciting though.

Some of the categories are far more open than previously actually. Praying Frank can bag International Male, I think he is in with a good chance.

I'm not. She's just not that successful or big as she once was. I can definitely understand her snubbing

Exactly, she's just not successful enough to get nominated. Or her family or management didn't ask the Brits organisers to nominate her for an award, which is what I presume Any Winehouse and Cat Power's family or management did. :kink:

I'm literally praying for Frank to win as well. I wish him all the luck in the world.

Mitch Winehouse appeared on BBC Breakfast this morning for an interview. http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p01590yf He said "Amy should be there to collect her own award" which suggested that she'd won. Maybe he knows something we don't!

Also, if they wanted to give her a posthumous award, why not give her the lifetime achievement award (which no one is receiving this year!)

K so predictions...

Exactly, they snubbed Nicki Minaj for some unknown person!

Exactly, they snubbed Nicki Minaj for some unknown person!

As much as dislike Minaj, she is at least a successful international female artist who has been in the charts. Personally Id prefer Kelly or Pink to be there.

I know. DEATH TO CAT POWER ETC.

Is this the place to talk about the awards show or should I make a new thread for the Lounge? I think that the aswards show has always been the place to talk about the actual event...

I think its best to not start a new thread as it'll get confusing. Best to stay here as the thread title is very straight forward.

OK, I'll talk about it here then. :D Cheers for that!

Cat Power >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Nicki Minaj

Also, is it actually true that the British Single award is being chosen by a panel? That seems like a better way of doing things, even if it's now kinda predictable that Adele will win (and i imagine they'll want to make it up to her after the whole 'interrupted speech' debacle from last year)

:( x2 (for Cat Power and best British Single)

I wouldn't mind if Adele got it but Feel The Love is the only song on the list that broke new ground for music in 2012 in my opinion. :D

Oh yes, Feel the Love is definitely the best song on that list (Spectrum and Too Close not far behind). C'mon Brits, at least give us ONE shock result!

:o Blasphemy!!! Nicki>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>The whole world

I hope Adele wins after she lost out last year. Ignoring that though, I would have liked Florence - Spectrum!

There's also a "Global Success" category this year, with only three nominees - Adele, Mumford & Sons and One Direction. I'd hope that Adele got it, but all three of them would be deserving.
