Tried to send a song. It seems another song of that band was already sent to BJSC quite recently... From millions of artists, why the hell someone sent exactly a song from that artist? :banghead:

 

Also what a shame that someone already sent a Wild Nothing song to an ex-UP edition, when he has a newer song (a masterpiece, "Paradise"):

So, BJSC songs aren't eligible? I never even thought to check - I feel completely left out that I'm not involved in BJSC - surely I'm not the only person who doesn't take part?

I guess they're eligible, but if many take part in UP AND BJSC, then where's the surprise (unknown) element? There should be a rule that doesn't allow you to participate in both competitions. BJSC "chops" new songs non stop. It's very hard to find a decent new song without seeing in BJSC first...

Which artist was it? Surely if it was a recent successful artist I can understand that.

 

I doubt other songs by recent or non-recent utter flops would be disallowed though.

 

And I have plenty of songs that have been in neither competition, it's really not that hard to avoid BJSC when searching for songs here.

'Chinatown' was sent in 2010 when the (inferior but still really good) song you posted didn't even exist yet. The rather wonderful 'Nocturne' was entered into BJSC last autumn.

I don't get your point (though I can appreciate it's frustrating perhaps). I don't know about you but I've only had a problem of a track being previously entered into BJSC/UP once or twice, and it's not as if there's a shortage of excellent songs: they can't all get entered! How about picking a track that's 2+ years old?

BJSC and UP are different animals. I really don't feel that there's too much crossover in between the two, although BJSC has become more indie-friendly lately and UP has maybe become more pop-orientated, the people who play both are definitely in the minority, and that means that songs can have wildly differing results.

While 'Nocturne' is great it's got nothing on 'Gemini' and 'Golden Haze'.

 

You should give them a go if you already haven't :)

"Golden Haze" was a massive hit on my chart in late 2010. Not really rated much of else from Wild Nothing really, even their cover of "Cloudbusting" was merely ok in my opinion.

 

As for BJSC - I've got to be honest, it actually scares me how seriously people take it...

Decided to bite the bullet and send something after all! I'm not a fan of sending something so new but I had nothing else!

Confirmed :D On the flipside from you Cal this is probably the oldest thing I've ever sent (but still not that old).

The Birthday Massacre got entered but I'm just warning people bout BJSC rwther than saying NO. There is a current ex-entry (different song) still on the list but that might be getting changed as well WHO KNOWS.
