Javiera Mena
"Otra Era"

You may have seen this song referenced in our national thread a few times. Fresh off a second victory in the Popjustice Song Contest a few weeks ago- it was decided that the FIRST entry I had won PJSC with would finally make its way over to Buzzjack.

Plus once this song inevitably tanks, it will prove ultimately that PJSC is the superior contest. Your choice guys, do the right thing (even though I know you won't) ~

THE BULLETIN ~

Javiera Mena "Otra Era", 12th

So this contest happened. Honestly i already explained all my feelings in the main thread so i don't really have anything left to say here. Wait.......DAMMIT!

So I kinda just broke the pretence that these bulletins were written by actual journalists. Surprise- it was me the whole time :o!

Unovia are probably spot on about us being "salty" tbh  but i guess it's true that you can't have the salt without the vinegar~ although i'm nearer tae Edinburgh so it would ideally be salt 'n' brown sauce, which isnae ma preferred option but ah've nae problem wae it honestly. Besides, i'm allowed to be as salty as i please, YOU people made me that way!!

Yeah i suppose 12th is pretty good. But setting our definition of a 'success' to be a Top 10 result was always going to be the ultimate jinx wasn't it. It's as if we sealed our own fate, and now personally i'm resigned to said fate, running aimlessly on our little hamster wheel. "Why do you persist Mr Seize?" you may ask, but i'm afraid I'm just in too deep at this point, i'm stuck on Silas' wild ride  I suppose you and i are destined to do this forever, BJSC :D

Lemon Demon
"Touch-Tone Telephone"

Since you all hate us with a burning passion (it's okay, you don't have to hide your feelings from us!), what better way to fuel the fires than with some super-quirky indie/synth pop sung by a male, ooooooohhhhh BABY :dancing: An absolute TUNE as they say, and in my mind a very emphatic statement for Trifoski, a unique experience light years beyond anything the neanderthals of the BJSC voting community will be able to comprehend (Ethanola aside, we always knew they had sense though <3), and its inevitable failure to qualify will solely be a direct reflection of their envy and resentment towards this great nation

'cause i'm the right one ~

Lemon Demon "Touch-Tone Telephone", 28th, 145pts

BJSC 2016 may very well have peaked. "Touch-Tone Telephone" comes from Lemon Demon's newest record Spirit Phone, it's a slice of bonkers brilliance and actually very "anti-bjsc" in a variety of ways that its Top 30 finish is really quite a marvel to behold, not to mention that 2nd place in the Semi Finals, how the hell that happened I've no idea. What we witnessed this month is incredibly special though- a ballsy, risky song, both lyrically and sound-wise a great representation of Trifoski, and it actually managed to prosper in the end (at least as much as it realistically could). Sure there were the usual haters along the way, but I shan't focus too much on their bitterness/incorrect opinions and instead give credit to all the people who recognised the greatness on display here, and rewarded it with their points, THANK YOU ALL <3

i try to call you every day,

I'm rehearsing what to say when the truth comes out (of my very own mouth!)

I've been working on a unified theory,

If I make it through tonight, everybody's gonna hear me out!

'cause I'm the right one...

ON MY TOUCH-TONE, TOUCH-TONE TELEPHONE!

In honour of this world-shattering success Persephonia have decided that they will be bringing Lemon Demon back to the PopJustice Song Contest again (via our surrogate Carel) :cheeseblock:

I mean... I didn't publicly announce that.

I always do really badly there so not really tbh. x

Teach me your ways oh mystic seven. ~

All this talk about PJSC makes me wanna check it out

Is it worth it?

Absolutely :D only things to keep in mind are the contest is obviously more pop-oriented, and it's more like Unknown Pleasures where the person behind each song is a secret until results night

Plus they voted magnificent tracks like The Greatest, Take It Or Leave It and Don't Wait Up into becoming big hits there, that's pretty much all the validation you'll need

Today is July 28th (a national holiday in Trifoski), exactly 3 years since one of BJSC's most iconic victories, by Trifoski's entry "So High" by Ghost Loft". You can relive the moment here - http://www.buzzjack.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=156412

We'd like to take this opportunity to thank the BJSC voters for this unforgettable moment.

(specifically the 2013 voters, that is. and mainly just the ones that voted for it)

In other news, a few nights ago one of our anonymous reporters caught up with Song Contest Chairman guy SevenSeize, moments after he was spotted walking out of popular local bar, the Trifoski Tavern:

Reporter: "Excuse me --%Mr. SevenSeize.%-- Can I obtain your thoughts on the recent Buzzjack Song Contest results."

Seven: "........i don't even, like... what the fuck are you even doing here. Like i come here to drown my sorrows and pretend that shit doesnt exist. but OH NO! cant let seven get his moment of escapism, just gotta come over and rub it all in. UGH"

Reporter: "--response does not compute-- Can you please go into further detail."

Seven: ".........look. the problem is its sorta like trifoski dont really....have a place in the contest today. its like lose lose lose lose...cant blend in, we'll get "lost in the shuffle" or some shite. cant stand out, people will never like the kind of way trifoski like to "stand out", catch ma drift? cant even send in some good old alt song cos theres like no alt bloc anymore. it's like i have to resort to the depths of basic dance generica to have a shot BUT I CANT DO THAT cos its like selling out. INTEGRITY is the name of the game guv do i look like some fuckin sellout scumbag to you...??"

Reporter: "Interesting. %Mr. SevenSeize.%, Will you be revealing future potential entries in the %Trifoski National Thread%, thus opening the opportunity for other countries to steal them."

Seven: "*stares blankly for about 10 seconds* ...............piss off."

-x-

In a somewhat related news item, some visitors to the Tavern that night tell us that Seven also performed a show-stealing karaoke rendition of Hall & Oates' "Out Of Touch"

The Go! Team
"Buy Nothing Day"

I get this may seem like a deal of just resorting to some older song because you had no better ideas left, but ACTUALLEH, ACTUALLEH, not quite. Sometimes you end up viewing a song differently when placed in a certain situation: Par example someone goes through a breakup, then they hear this song about a breakup (though not specifically). They've heard the song before but now they experience it with a new mindset, and suddenly the lyrics resonate much more, their viewpoint on that song changes dramatically

And this is precisely why near 6 year-old "Buy Nothing Day" by The Go! Team finds itself in BJSC 89. The opening lyric alone "nothing came today, nothing will tomorrow" is so eerily striking when put in the context of Trifoski being resigned to their fate, "no one took the system cos the world was out of bounds" is a pretty obvious Agenda reference also, while "circle the track, over and over" symbolizes Trifoski's insistence to keep going despite the futility of it all, the hamster wheel etc. But on the other hand, the song's vibrant and carefree sound brings a different dynamic, meaning as an overall package it portrays the idea of being resigned to your fate, but not letting that get you down, and enjoying the wild ride nonetheless

(and all this other highfalutin garbage I'm spouting to justify this entry, but anyways- if you can get past your burning hatred for us, then do allow yourself to enjoy the wonderful "Buy Nothing Day"!)

An Electric Shock!

Trifoski pulled off ones of the upsets of the century (not quite on the magnitude of Ghost Loft, but it's up there) tonight as Oliver's bangin' synth funk tune "Electrify" notched a 6th place finish. Following the tragic and unfair veto of Amber Coffman's lovely track "All To Myself" it appeared like BJSC 90 would be more of the same for Trifoski. But despite none of the experts tipping it for any higher than a Top 30 finish, Oliver blew off their monocles by striking to an early lead, and firmly holding a Top 10 placing until the end.

Insiders tell us SevenSeize is currently "too shaken" to comment on the result.

THE RESULTS:
Aeroche picked up their billionth BJSC win this month with the pretty cool witch house sounds of "Fate" by Fraunhofer Diffraction. They came under close contention from HAELOS' "Earth Not Above" rounding off a successful year for Jadakissnia, and South Danaelanda end their year like they started it- picking up the bronze medal with Basto's club hit "Gregory's Theme". The Trifoskian public's favourite "Never Stop" by Contact claimed 4th following its PJSC triumph, closely followed by Altyr Muunilinst in 5th.

FRENSHIP bettered their previous finish with Capsize, with "1000 Nights" ending in 8th for Florina. And after many near misses, Ultraviolenceland finally snatched their first Top 10 appearance with "Maze" by ARIA. We send our congrats to them, unfortunately the song was totally forgettable, but we can easily fix that by pretending it was Dilute This instead- well done Ultraviolenceland & Nimmo :cheer:

Syndare sent in another infectious Smith & Thell track, with "ROW" delivering a 12th place for them, and a dose of justice for the greatness that was "Hippie Van"! Sadly it wasn't to be for Mulgracia as Off Bloom's MØ-esque jam "Love To Hate It" came in 23rd, I guess we couldn't get everything right.

-x-

In unrelated news; reports claim that all (still unnamed) members of the Anti-Trifoski Agenda were killed tonight in unthinkable circumstances, after they were each struck down by a bolt of lightning. What are the odds? Whatever the case, this was undoubtedly a "shocking" moment for any who witnessed it

Coming soon: TRIFOSKI EOY 2016 CHART :cheer: (spoiler: will feature some Singerpurear entries)
