This was OKAY, started off slow but definitely became more interesting near the end.

Only small gripe is that the characters and plotlines have started off all a little too obvious and one-note. Older experienced motherly one GOOD, bratty teenage princess BAD, dictatorial father BAD. Sweet and innocent blonde in a relationship with long-haired punk (who in the first 2 minutes had been identified as the BAD BOY), but is clearly going to be spending the series exchanging dewy-eyed looks with the SAPPY and WORTHY guitar guy.

On the plus side, Jonathan Jackson is LOVELY, despite playing one of the show's designated arseholes and having all of 3 lines.

I really enjoyed it, it was very good for a pilot actually! It did take a while to get going but there is already a few good twists and turns forming and I'm looking forward to seeing what else happens.
I quite enjoyed it. Not enough to immediately acquire all the episodes that have aired to date in the US but enough to watch it at UK pace.
I currently onto episode 8 of this and it gets better with every episode, the talent on the show is incredible, brilliant actors and excellent vocalists. Love it.
http://www.dingsme.info/avatar8.jpgYep I will be, hope it is as good as the trailers have led me to believe.
I've only just put it on, can't believe I forgot it was on :drama:

Yeah I've watched all 14 eps that have been aired in America now. One of my fave shows atm!

Did anyone stick with this?

I got the show on DVD and damn this show builds! It really started to get into it's stride as it went on. I've got an episode and a half left of the season and I'm entirely HOOKED.

Oh Silas, I hope you laugh yourself to tears as I did at the final Rayna/Deacon scene of the season. I'm kind of willing not to watch it anymore because

I can pretend they are dead and move on

.

The show itself felt to me like it didn't really know what it wanted to be. Like it started out as a semi serious drama but by about episode 7/8 turned into a high end soap, which I was all for. It's just there seemed to be a discontent between those 2 angles for most of the rest of the season. In fact the only person in it who seemed to GET IT was Hayden who basically went all out in the melodrama stakes from day one and as such owned every scene. Plus it's gone through about 5 seasons worth of story in 21 episodes so God only knows what it'll do this season. I do fully expect to see it canned too, it got a pity/default renewal this year more than anything.

I get what you mean. The rise of the soapy section is what I've been loving! I think they highlight of this season for me has been watching Juliette unravel. It's been spectacular. I've never really got Hayden as an actress until this. She was an inspired casting choice and she's really made the show come alive.

The music has been brilliant, I've always been a bit of a country fan.

I'm hoping ABC see some sense and not screw this over as it's a fantastic bit of drama and hell, if it does get axed next year then by then we'll have had a good 10-11 seasons worth of stories!!!

Oh there are some absolute corkers in it: Wrong Song, No One Will Ever Love You and Love Like Mine are among my favourite songs of the year. Plus Stomping Ground is a classic for all the wrong reasons. Poor old Rayna has a range of about 2 NOTES.

Wrong Song has the worst lyrics ever, but it's just so damn catchy.

Just thinking about this again I've been reminded of Lemar's hilariously awful heart attack scene. You could see it coming a mile (20 minutes) off and then he overacted every second of it.
