They're trying so hard to make this a hit before they announce anything about the album
I hope they reduce it to 59p. Otherwise I think it'll peak in the top 20 then drop out quickly. It doesn't have any significant airplay at the moment. Also, its release date is June 23rd right? Why would they have a performance of the song a week before the release date? (Or is the release date actually the 16th?).

It has been pushed back to June 30th according to iTunes! :o

Oh dear!

I don't see the logic in that, surely it's going to peak lower?

This is surely going to be the worst performing single by her, isn't it?

It won't really make any difference I think, except it is now released alongside Icona Pop, John Newman, The Saturdays, Chase & Status and Lucy Spraggan. It'll still only mean she charts a couple of places lower though and it's an extra week to gather a few more pre-orders.

Suppose, she should debut quite high which might be her advantage of going top 10.

Yeah, she's performing on The Voice next week what is good promo!

For a pre-album single, it'll probably chart similarly to 'What The Hell' but not stay in the chart for as long. If you are talking about any single, then no way as 'Smile' only charted just inside the top 200.

I don't think that's a bad move. It could be the reason it has very low airplay atm (due to the release being pushed back a week). I hope its airplay can at least be in the top 300 by the time to release comes around (currently sitting outside the top 1000). I hope her album is good though, I really enjoyed Goodbye Lullaby.

I don't even think it'll chart in the Top 40. I've not heard it once on the radio.

It will definitely be top 40, it's criminal that Smile did not chart top 100 :(

It's pre-order has been doing decently, which should ensure it enters around #60 at least when iTunes first updates. It should be able to climb up at least 20-30 places considering how much 'Live It Up' climbed even before Britain's Got Talent with very limited airplay.

It's incredibly rare for a song that hasn't had any airplay to reach the Top 40.
It's by an established act and has been held back for ages though. I think it'll just about scrape in.
I'm actually really surprised this has reached #7 in Ireland. She made little or no impact here (singles-wise) with Goodbye Lullaby, so it's nice to see!
So she's performing it on The Voice next week, but they're also pushing the release date to 2 weeks after the performance? :manson: DUMBFOUNDED. Just release it next week! It's already been available in every other country in the world since the start of April for god's sake!
I can't believe how irrelevant she's became. :o

This is a complete tune and I'm not even an Avril fan.

Just shows the power of the radio stations having the monopoly over who is relevant regardless of the quality of the music.
