So next week, additions are expected to be Icona Pop, One Direction, Nicole Scherzinger & The Saturdays.

I think 1D's the only one they said they'll definitely add. The others they'll "come back to".

The 1975 up to B list :w00t: :cheer:

I'll be incredibly surprised (and annoyed) if they ignore Icona Pop. I think they will add it at some point, even if its straight to B list on release week!
Haha, I'm sure R1 weren't expecting articles like this when they decided to live tweet the playlist process!

Well what did they expect. It's an idiotic idea to publically tweet rejections to the artists directly, especially when the reason is "more important releases at the moment". Are they trying to alienate the industry?

That is slightly uncalled for but Nicole Scherzinger and Hurts are shit (in my opinion) so it is good that they have not been playlisted.

Boomerang is awful, so i wouldn't mind that being snubbed. Hurts probably won't go Top 40 regardless of airplay ('Miracle' is far from their best imo, especially after the brilliant 'The Road')

I haven't heard Hurts song (I liked Wonderful Life though), so I won't comment on that, but Boomerang doesn't really deserve to be playlisted. It's extremely un-inventive (yes, I'm saying this even though will.i.am contributed!). I'm glad Radio 1 tweeted that to Nicole. It's harsh, but hopefully it'll get her and her record label to come up with something a bit more memorable for her next single.

I have similar thoughts about C'mon as well. Those songs will sound fine in constant endless rotation with We Found Love and Moves Like Jagger on Capital FM and Heart FM though, so I'm sure those stations will support those songs. :)

I love Hurts and I really like their new single.

It certainly explains why they are so big in Europe, but not here because the UK radio stations simply don't seem to want to support a group who can actually write their own material. They'd far rather playlist cr@p like One Erection who could maybe manage to write a nursery rhyme and that's about it.

Doubt 1D write their own songs at all although i wait to be proved unwittingly wrong by a 1D fanatic lol!!

The fact that R1 playlists infinitely more rock bands than most commercial stations sort of proves that.

As has happened before, I completely understand why they chose not to playlist Hurts and Nicole but they gave a poor excuse. And 140 characters is hardly the best format to announce it in.

But Bastille have been listed and they're sort of similar. Or is it just me who thinks they're fairly similar, but I think Hurts have been around longer?

Hopefully they'll playlist them next week.
