Ok, so. If Kylie had gone and released a studio album rather than releasing Ultimate Kylie, how well do we think it would have done?

Judging by the tracks recorded during that time and the success of I Believe In You, I think it would have done better than Body Language.

Although UK was a massive success, so I am not too fussed there wasn't another album. What do we think?

Also how do we feel about her sound at this time? IBIY, Giving You Up, B.P.M, Made of Glass, Everything I Know, Loving You are all from this time.

Her sound was fantastic, especially in Giving You Up.

Have a real soft spot for Giving You Up, and the video.

I'm glad she released a Greatest Hits instead of another album: she had many hits since her previous Greatest Hits in 1992 and after moving away from her traditional pop style, it was a good idea to remind everyone who she really was. I do, however, agree that had she released a studio album, it would have performed better than Body Language - that's pretending I Believe in You would be released before the album. I haven't listened to the material recorded at that time aside from the singles from Ultimate Kylie, but if they were similar to the singles, I think it would make a great album. I'm sure the Scissor Sisters produced/wrote I Believe in You, so a vocal collaboration would be fantastic edition to the album...I'm getting excited just thinking about it!

You mean you have not eargasmed to Made of Glass? :o

I think another studio studio album would have done well especially going by the sound of the material she was recording at that time. I also think tracks like i believe in you, made of glass, giving you up etc would have made a far better follow up to fever than any of the body language stuff did. Overall im not overly keen on body language apart from chocolate and slow and i think the huge success of fever should have seen a quiet a big follow up. Fever proved the public liked pop/dance kylie and then she moved almost completely away from it for body language and body language in terms of sales was a far cry from that of Fever.

I think a full album of the material recorded around ultimate kylie would have been the ideal follow up to fever, i would still release ultimate Kylie and then follow that by body language. Ultimate Kylie in a sense could then be seen as closing the chapter on pop/dance and that follow by a new era. I think it was wrong to do fever>>> body language back to pop dance again. But then what do i know, that only my opinion.

That second paragrph you posted is a good idea, I would have loved that.
IBIY, Giving You Up, B.P.M, Made of Glass, Everything I Know, Loving You - all among her most amazing!

'Made Of Glass' is majestic. 'Giving You Up' is also one of her most criminally underrated singles. :(

There were some top notch tracks from those sessions, really loved 'Loving You' and 'On The Up'.

Completely agree. When I've spoken to other people IRL about Giving You Up, some haven't even heard of it.

Some do if they push themselves to think of "that video where she becomes three times taller", but yeah, long forgotten sadly. :(

I still like giving you up and i remember when i went to see the original showgirl i loved her performance of it.

On The Up is from Fever is it not?

The two new singles on ultimate were certainly a lot stronger than most of the material on body language and if she had released an album of same standard then it could have been potentially fever part two. I'd say that the ultimate singles followed on nicely from fever, whereas body language doesnt really fit that well.
