Someone who was with Leona lastnight., Hes a songwriter apparently confirms she is indeed recording a Christmas album to a fan. So ii think theres enough proof as like a dozen different tweets/people confirming this!

Now its confirmed by Leona herself :)

Leona Lewis is recording a Christmas album with a Motown feel — on the advice of Simon Cowell.

The 28-year-old is currently working in a studio in Los Angeles with top producing team Biffco after her X Factor mentor suggested the idea.

She told the Standard: “Simon is still very much involved in my career and helps me out. He came up with the Christmas album idea, and we both kind of felt it was the right time to go ahead with it.

“I’m doing some classics with quite a Motown feel. There’s also going to be a bit of original material in there.

“I’m pretty excited about it as I’ve never done anything like this before. There are proper Motown, soulful songs that I can really just enjoy. It’s so musical and I’m getting back to what I love doing.”

Lewis’s first two albums topped the charts, although her third record Glassheart only reached No3 last year.

Despite this, she insisted she is not feeling under pressure to deliver.

She said: “There is always a certain amount of pressure but I just try and take myself out of it and remind myself why I do this, which is for the love of music.

"This time, I’m going into the studio and doing a Christmas album, but I’m also feeling my way around and seeing what I want to do for my next studio album. It’s quite nice, free and organic.”

Just came here to post that!

I have to say, I'm very EXCITED for the album now. Leona + Motown + lots of original material + she's recording a bit for her next studio album?! So excited!!!!!!!

Leona will be peforming at Kew Gardens (Saturday) and Scarborough (Friday) this week! Cannot wait to see her performances and we might get some more info regarding the album/her recording process.
I think the Motown Christmas idea is a terrible idea, it most certainly is not something i would purchase as it is not my thing in any shape or form. I hope it does well for her or i should rephrase that and say she needs it to do well.

Leona performing tomorrow at Scarborough! She tweeted she was adding in a surprise song to the setlist! Exiting. :)

Hope she'll add "Shake You Up". Would love to see her perform that!

The new song she added to the set list was a cover of Diamonds, was really good. I was at Kew, she killed it! Bring on the next project hopefully goes well!
Leona is on vocal rest for about a month. That's quite good as it means her voice should be on point for recording and performances later in the year. :D

I wonder if she would be able to find her very own Christmas hit, that will come back year after year. It will be very interesting to say the least. I know there will be "This ain't no 'All I Want For Christmas' !!1!!" or whatever, but I'd love if she could do an uptempo number like that one, instead of a more traditional cover or something. (As lovely as that will sound. OMG her version of 'Silent Night' would be *.* )
My excitement level for this Christmas album has gone up, I love listening to chrismas songs on the lead up to Christmas, and the fact I can have a album full of Christmas songs by Leona is just going to be perfect.
I don't think it'll do well but I have faith that it will be an incredible album.

This could really go either way for her. It could peak and sell even lower than Glassheart or it could actually stick around during the build-up to Xmas and rack up decent sales.

My Christmas wish list for this album would be 'Santa Claus Is Coming to Town', 'Let It Snow' and 'Happy Xmas (War Is Over)'. But most of all, I really want a Xmas track that would be a great single and capture the imaginations of the public. Something uptempo would be preferable (Leona's own 'Last Christmas' or AIWFCIY) but whatever it is, it needs to show of her vocals first and foremost because let's face it, one XF performance will probably be the only support this album gets.

I'm leaking funds from 1D's marketing budget to Leona's :kink:

But, her promotion is fine. She actually had a lot of promotion during Glassheart, but her big issue was radio play. "Trouble" never managed to get in the top 50 (Despite Radio 1/Radio 2 support) and "Lovebird" didn't make the top 200 :(

P.S: She did all these for Glassheart/single promotions:

Comic Relief

X-factor

Stand Up To Cancer

Alan Carr

This Morning

Sun Biz sessions

Loose Women

National Lottery

Daybreak

Sadly she had to cancel some promotion because she was very ill. Most notably a BBC Radio 2 concert. I think that hurt her because I'm sure if she did the concert they would have playlisted "Lovebird" (it was played by a couple of their DJs a few times despite not being playlisted). Her real issue is getting radio support.

Completely agree. Hopefully she'll pick a good radio-friendly lead single. Maybe she should do a duet with another singer in order to get radio play?
LSE have had our engineer Matt Kemp in the studio with @leonalewismusic these past few weeks! Exciting new music coming soon!

Looks like the album is coming together nicely! Should be close to completion if it isn't already! :cheer:

Hopefully we'll get the title and album cover soon. Mary J Blige & Kelly Clakrson have both released their title/album covers, so Leona should reveal hers soon!

Cant wait for this  Cant believe its September in a few days, This year has gone too fast.

Leona is the 11th most successful female artist in Germany of the 21st century so far!
