Pompeii's release on Sunday should determine if guitar music is really on its way back this time - its definitely had decent airplay, if it can go top 10 and have a decent chart run, it could open the doors.

The funny thing about Bastille is that they're NOT a guitar band. Loved by the same crowd who like guitar bands yes, but they don't really use guitars extensively. I don't even think one's used on Pompeii. A great act nonetheless.

The 1975 - Chocolate up to #43. The music video release has had a great impact for them.

Did 1D release a CD version of this song?

They did, for Sainsbury's only as it's them who sell the Red Nose Day stuff. No sign of it in a store I went to today though, apparently it's not in until Monday. :drama:

Although that was very much seen as a one-off. Now there's a greater push towards more guitar-based groups, especially from the major record labels, so I think this time it might actually stick.

Oh I think it'll definitely happen too, purely because record labels and the media will make it happen. They've decided guitars are now going to be IN again so they will be, it's very much a self-fulfilling prophecy. Though I think it'll be far more based toward acts with Of Monsters & Men, fun. and Haim type sounds rather than what you'd consider to be 'guitar music' from the past decade.

 9. Explosions - Ellie Goulding

 21. Just Give Me a Reason - P!nk (& #64)

 35. Love Me (feat. Drake & Future) - Lil Wayne

48. Worry About You (feat. Kano) - Tyler James (& #66)

73. Hips Don't Lie (feat. Wyclef Jean) - Shakira

But Bastille are not a guitar band. In fact I would not really consider them indie either.

47. The 1975 - Chocolate

is this the highest it's been so far?

I love this song! :D I hope that it goes higher up the chart over the next few weeks. ^_^

And Pompeii would be the best #1 since Don't You Worry Child if it went to #1.

I wouldn't really call Fun a guitar band either - more like drums and bass (no, not Drum & Bass!) rather than guitar-led
Shooting up quickly. Should comfortably be top 100 in the next hour or two.

I hope not, an average song! Mariah really is a shadow of her former self. Her last good song was Obsessed!

What is this "iTunes error" everyone was talking about? On my iTunes Gabrielle has always been on the feed. She's at #14 now.

On the newest version of iTunes, Gabrielle has been disappearing from the singles chart. And it is having an effect as it is just too coincidental for it not to be the cause of Gabrielle's sudden drop.

Glad Ellie is up to 9!

Listening to Mariah's new song, I'm starting to think I might know what Stargate's new sound for the next few years might be... I'm glad they at least moved away from those Sexy Chick clones though, although they're all starting to flop recently so it's no wonder!

Obsessed was awesome. But I loved Triumphant as well, and I like her new song too.

Anybody remember Get Your Number though? "Oh DAMN! The club bout to close in a minute". :music: With the charts becoming reminiscent of the mid-00s, she should maybe release something like this again:

Combined on Kworb:

01 Macklemore & Ryan Lewis - Thrift Shop 1.0599

02 Baauer - Harlem Shake 0.9762

03 One Direction - One Way Or Another 0.9375

Fantastic to see One Direction have dropped to #3 when combined! Now we just need them to drop uncombined!

I'd still consider them very much in the same crowd. Its not obviously guitar music like the likes of the Vaccines, Fall Out Boy, Foals etc. but is still very much 'alternative' music, a bit like Of Monsters & Men & Haim (as has already been stated), and if Pompeii is massive, it will benefit the whole genre.
