Gabrielle Aplin has confirmed on tonight's Radio 1 chart show that 'Panic Cord' will be the next single from her upcoming album 'English Rain'! It will be premièred in March ahead of a release in April! The song was previously a track on her 2nd EP 'Never Fade' released in May 2011. I assume it has been re-recorded and the video for the new single was filmed a couple of days ago!

Listen to the original version of Panic Cord below:

Nice enough on first listen but definitely doesn't sound like anything more than a top 20/30 hit.

Neither does "Please Don't Say You Love Me", but somehow that borefest got to #6!

This is decent enough on first listen, but I can see it going exactly the same way in my affections as the first two singles after so many listens...

I suppose not but at least that has the momentum she gained from following a #1 single and the pre-orders and goodwill she gained from that. Panic Cord does sound distinctly 'album filler' but hopefully the inevitable new version will breathe some life into it. I'm seeing her live next month so I want something a little uptempo at least!

I suppose it doesn't really matter how the single does anyway, they're surely going to be focusing on album sales from here on out. The fact that she's gotten herself two top 10 hits is probably just a bonus to her label rather than something they needed to happen.
If the album includes a re-recording of Home, I'll be ecstatic. Unlikely to happen, though.
I think Home will feature in some capacity (i.e. deluxe bonus track), artists should definitely play to their strengths. Even Ed Sheeran kept a few of his old songs back for +, notably The A Team and You Need Me, I Don't Need You.

I'm holding out for the unlikely inclusion of The Liar and The Lighter. It's how I stumbled across this epic talent a couple of years ago and for me has only been beaten by Please Don't Say You Love Me

Unsure about Panic Cord though. Never really grabbed me from the EP.

Gabrielle has confirmed on Facebook that the video for 'Panic Cord' will be released on Monday 11th March!

Can't wait to see the video! :D

Although I agree with Silas, it'd be great for The Liar and the Lighter. *.*

So happy about 'Dreams' being on there! I heard it a few weeks back as it was on a Bastille mixtape I think and it was fantastic, but the mixtape was no longer available to download. Now I'll finally be able to get it! :cheer:

Loving the artwork too!
