No Emeli's Live album, I should imagine that fell into the DVD chart

But isn't it a live album not DVD? Similar to releasing an acoustic album or Kylie's Abbey Road Sessions?

It's a CD and DVD set, so it's both. I think someone here said that the record company has the choice in this case, like with Coldplay's recent live album?

That makes sense then. Coldplay's charted on albums didn't it?

I don't think so, not top 40 if it did chart.

I just checked wikipedia and it said it charted on the music video chart! So there we have it!

BRITs stars see massive overnight sales uplift

By Dan Lane (OCC)

BRIT Awards 2013 winners and performers see massive sales uplift over night following ITV1 show.

Ben Howard, Mumford And Sons, Emeli Sande, Muse and Frank Ocean are among the biggest sales winners so far from the BRIT Awards 2013, all of them seeing album sales double overnight following the show, according to latest Official Charts Company data.

Today’s Official Charts data only counts up to midnight last night, just two hours after the BRITs finished broadcasting on ITV1 – but even in that time, big sales boosts were posted across the board for artists performing and winning on the night. Albums by Taylor Swift, Justin Timberlake and Robbie Williams also saw substantial increases in only a few hours of post-Awards sales.

British Male and Breakthough winner Ben Howard’s Every Kingdom is now on course to return to the Official Albums Chart Top 10 (it is currently at Number 9, and was at Number 46 last week), with sales surging 320% overnight. Only Love, the track performed by Howard also saw a huge spike in sales of 1156% in the hours following his performance.

International Female nominee Taylor Swift’s Red climbs to Number 8 today from outside the Top 20, while British Female and Album Of The Year winner Emeli Sande’s Our Version Of Events (Number 2) and British Group winners Mumford And Sons' Babel (Number 3) each added more than 5,000 sales overnight and are on course to stay in the Top 5 on Sunday. The BRIT Awards 2013 compilation album also saw a 58.8% sales rise after the show.

“As well as picking up two awards, Ben Howard and Emeli Sande were the clear winners from the BRITs sales impact overnight," said Official Charts Company Managing Director Martin Talbot. "The fact that Howard’s album quadrupled its sales is remarkable given that that only two hours’ worth of post-awards sales count towards today’s numbers – but it was also a great night for sales for Frank Ocean, Mumford And Sons, Muse and Taylor Swift.”

The Official Top 10 Brit Awards 2013 Sales Winners so far are as follows:

SALES INCREASE ARTIST ALBUM

1 320% BEN HOWARD EVERY KINGDOM

2 136% FRANK OCEAN CHANNEL ORANGE

3 110% MUMFORD & SONS BABEL

4 103% MUSE THE SECOND LAW

5 95% MUMFORD & SONS SIGH NO MORE

6 92% TAYLOR SWIFT RED

7 76% JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE JUSTIFIED

8 66% ROBBIE WILLIAMS TAKE THE CROWN

9 62% EMELI SANDE OUR VERSION OF EVENTS

10 52% LANA DEL REY BORN TO DIE

The table above shows the increase on sales from Wednesday’s sales flash (counting sales from Sunday to Tuesday inclusive) to Thursday’s sales flash (counting sales from Sunday to Wednesday inclusive).

Love how Muse are there despite not winning anything or even being nominated for Best Album. I do hope The 2nd Law can eventually pass The Resistance but they're rapidly running out of singles since they cocked up "Panic Station".
Wow 5k sales in 2 hours - imagine what theyll be like now?!

'Babel' could possibly have a chance of overtaking Emeli with that much bigger increase (and Emeli still not being #1) although I suppose the percentages are a bit meaningless if we don't have actual sales for them. Wow at Ben Howard already being #9, looks like he could well reach a new peak then! Shame there's no position given for 'Only Love' but we'll get one tomorrow anyway, hopefully at least top 15 if not top 10.

EDIT: Oh wait it does give some sales for Emeli and Mumfords - if they both sold 'over 5,000' (implying only just over 5,000) and Mumfords have a much higher percentage increase then they must be quite a way behind her still. Ah well, hopefully a climb to #2 is still within their reach. Great to see 'channel ORANGE', 'The 2nd Law' and 'Sigh No More' getting good increases as well.

If Justin Timberlake goes number 1 on itunes this week would it be the first time we have had 3 different number 1's throughout the week?

They only opened the show with a massive performance... Did you really not think they'd get any sort of increase? :heehee:

7 76% JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE JUSTIFIED

 Brilliant!

That increase for Ben :o :o :o

Given how poorly "Supremacy" has done compared to the other performances I did wonder.

The 'Diamonds'/'Live While We're Young'/'Skyfall' week had 4 (the outgoing #1 from PSY, then One Direction shooting to #1 quickly, then Rihanna overtaking and then Adele shooting to #1 on her release on the Friday).

I see. However, Muse have always been better album sellers than singles sellers, so it was always going to help them more in the albums. Well I'm not surprised by the increase anyway  Maybe by the fact it's one of the 4 biggest increases, but still. :P
Just done some calculations - if Nick Cave was 72% ahead on Wednesday and that amounted to a 6.5k lead, then Emeli was on a bit over 9k yesterday. Increasing by 62% puts her on around 14.4k today and given that Mumford & Sons sold 5k which was a 110% increase, they were on about 4.5k yesterday so about 9.5k today. Very rough of course but there's about 5k gap between them. I think it's possible for 'Babel' to beat that unless Emeli is crushing them on physical sales (which she probably is sadly).
20k ahead??? Really?? Damn that's quite impressive. I wonder if Thrift Shop can actually beat that
