Britney Spears - Oh La La (OA/OS) 17/6/13

Not sure if they'll continue to support Britney or Kelly?

Did they playlist Catch My Breath?

Also, what was the last Britney song to be playlisted - was it 3?

Hold It Against Me was A playlisted.

I think Catch My Breath was also the same.

I remember they had Dark Side playlisted for a few weeks and it reached B list for a week before being withdrawn. Made sense considering it was released during the summer. Do Radio usually play soundtrack singles? Considering Ooh La La will have no reference to her album (supposedly).

I think it depends how big the artist is or if they're in Radio 1's good books. I know Radio 1 aren't very keen on Britney these days so I'm not expecting 'Ooh La La' to be playlisted, who knows if her actual lead single will be a different matter though?

By the same token, it'll be a nervewracking time for me when Kylie next releases properly. :(

R1 have ignored Lana's 'Young And Beautiful' which is unusual as I'm sure they supported her loads with her previous singles. They've also not playlisted 'We Own It (Fast & Furious)'. Perhaps they have something against soundtrack singles. (They did play 'Skyfall' though obviously).

No worries, I'm actually off to the airport in a minute for a work trip to Holland - and next week I'm in Spain and won't be around so feel free to start the topic as early as you want :D

This is what I think will be added this week:

The Wanted - Walks Like Rihanna (pretty sure they will playlist it)

Fenech-Soler - Magnetic (as said above, it's Greg James record of the week so they should do)

Palma Violets – Best Of Friends

The Saturdays – Gentleman

Taylor Swift ft. Ed Sheeran – Everything Has Changed

Possibly:

Miguel – Adorn (Capital are supporting this aren't they? And he was playlisted recently on R1 featuring on the J. Cole song and is currently featuring on the Mariaj song!)

Possibly but maybe a week too early yet:

Calvin Harris – Thinking About You

Iggy Azalea – Bounce

Katy B – What Love Is Made Of

Pink ft. Lily Allen – True Love

Rihanna ft. David Guetta – Right Now

Sebastian Ingrosso ft.Tommy Trash & John Martin - Reload

The release schedule is getting a bit more exciting now that we're getting closer to summer!

It is very early for Iggy & Katy but i think they may be added because they are big releases and radio 1 will be flat out playing them by the end of this month!

It will maybe even lead to an earlier release lol

I dont think they normally do unless they are phenomenally sucessful which with Skyfall was always going to be the case. Lana and 2Chaniz also arent as big as Adele. Obv i have no real proof of this view i can only go by experience of the playlist in the past.

Did they playlist her last single? Seem to remember Kylie support shifting to radio 2 last time round?

'Timebomb'? No, they didn't.

Given what happened with Robbie's 'Candy' and they said it's because of his age (he was 38!), I'm doubtful she'll get support for her proper lead single.

^^ Indeed i think she will be moved to radio 2 as a legendary pop act. Did her lead single off her last album get radio 1 support? I remember it still went top 5? (Not inc Greatest Hits etc)

Yep, they supported that and then 'Get Outta My Way' but after that nothing.

The problem is that if Kylie comes back with a song like Skirt, Radio 2 aren't going to touch it either.

It really depends on what Kylie's song will sound like. I doubt that it will be playlisted but the Roc Nation association might mean the song is 'relevant' for Radio 1 to feel acceptable to playlist.

Also, as said previously, I highly doubt they'll playlist Britney for a soundtrack single especially when it's for The Smurfs.

Oh it's a soundtrack, prob won't then. If an older artist comes back with a newer artist then they have a chance of course!

Did they actually say it was because of his age? Because there's quite a few artists of a similar age that get playlisted often.
