I'm unsure about Azealia Banks and Lana Del Rey; but i can't really see either of their new tracks being supported to be honest, maybe in a few weeks depending on the reception they get from charts, media and other broadcasters but i'm almost certain they won't be on there today.

 

I would also love to see Empire of the Sun and Cody Simpson's new tracks get play-listed but the odds are very slim especially for the latter.

They didn't support CRJ's last single so I don't see why they would support this one. I think it's too late for Nicki and Psy now but this is Radio 1 so anything can happen!

'Gentleman' is being played at least once a day on Radio 1, so i don't see why it wouldn't be playlisted.

Nicki i think you're probably right; however this new Carly Rae single has had better reception than 'This Kiss' which was her previous one, and if it keeps climbing on iTunes i can see Radio 1 getting behind her!!

Good shout with Disclosures new single although they will probabaly wait until next week when it charts as its OA/OS. Love the way they release.

 

Hopefully Swin Deeps new single will be playlisted its brillant, sounds like the Stone Roses!! Hope Empire of the Sun & Queens of the Stone Age get support!!

I think QOTSA might be a bit too old for the ageist Radio 1?

But they are too rocky for radio 2 maybe 6 music will play them? (BIT like the Foo Fighters)

Yes but they also play acts like Stereophonics/Manic Street preachers/Suede depending on whether radio 2 play them (if they are slower a la Indian Summer the last Phonics single they leave it for radio 2s audience)!!

6music acts as both a creche and a retirement home as far as music is concerned, as its remit requires it to play both new music and songs by artists who would've been playlisted by Radio 1 in the past.

I think it's too early for them to add 10/06 or 17/06 releases, they'll probably add mostly 03/06 releases today. I think Swim Deep is a good shout actually, not sure who San Cisco are though. CRJ could be a late addition but as they didn't support her last single, I don't know if they'll support this one (even though it is performing better).

If a song gets taken off iTunes it usually means the record label are going to promote it hard. Songs like Call Me Maybe, Fireflies, We Are Young, etc. were originally on iTunes, and when they started blowing up in other countries they got taken off UK iTunes to be held back and promoted pre-release.

This has already been held back from March until June though and it has never actually been available on UK iTunes (only on pre-order) like 'Call Me Maybe' was (and the other maybe but I don't know much about them). I don't know what the label is doing really.
