February 22, 201312 yr Those Were The Days by Mary Hopkin, at 5.02, was a long No.1 especially for the sixties. Edited February 22, 201312 yr by Common Sense
February 22, 201312 yr Author Oh that reminds me that both of Otto Knows' chart hits were only available in their 6 minute versions. Mirrors isn't the first of Justin's long songs too, Lovestoned and What Goes Around are both 7 and a half minutes (but both have radio edits) The Snow Patrol version of Run was 6 minutes, and so was their minor hit "Open Your Eyes".
February 22, 201312 yr David Bowie's Let Dance is also 7 minutes long! :o Only on the album of the same name though. The single wasn't so long.
February 22, 201312 yr 3 2:43 The Lumineers - Ho Hey I would never have guess! :o Even shorter than Get Up (Rattle)! I always thought it was about 4 minutes long...perhaps it's just because I'm bored of hearing it on the Chart Show and it just drags on for me! :D
February 22, 201312 yr In the late 70s / early 80s some fairly long songs from albums had a separate, shorter, single edit. In more recent years, there was a shorter version of One Day Like This (sacrilege obviously). However, there was the occasional song where the reverse happened. The album version of Blondie's Heart Of Glass was just under four minutes long. The version released as a single was almost two minutes longer.
