Putting the beat into beating cancer!

The Evamore Project is an ambitious, creative concept whereby great actors and recording artists come together to record unique, atmospheric songs utilising narrative, lyrics and musicianship to convey true stories - and all to raise the profile of The Cancer Platform.

The Evamore Project was created by scientific entrepreneur, Professor Sir Chris Evans, OBE, who specialises in cancer and is a co-founder of The Cancer Awareness Trust. He was struck how patients’ language and courage clearly echoed the words of those young sent into battle in World War 1. Their letters and diaries inspired him and contributing artists to write a collection of songs that tell the stories of those facing the fight of their lives. All proceeds from the project are dedicated to the Cancer Awareness Trust to develop The Cancer Platform.

Listen to One More Yard featuring Cillian Murphy, Sinead O’Connor, Imelda May, Brian Eno, Nick Mason and Ronnie Wood! Produced by John Reynolds. Available on Spotify or or get in touch to buy a limited edition LP.

We are now working on a full album, to be released to coincide with the full launch of The Cancer Platform website and app! Over 50 of the world’s top stars have already contributed including Glenn Close, Delta Goodrem, Orlando Bloom, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, Martin Fry, Damien Dempsey, Toby Jones, Peter Kay, Michael Palin, Michael Sheen, Maxine Peake, Christopher Eccleston, Ronnie Wood, Nick Mason, Sinead O’Connor, Imelda May, Cillian Murphy, Brian Eno, Richard Armitage and many more HUGE names to be announced!

Nice find Alex. That sounds very interesting . I take it that Robbie & Guy wll have done something with one of the letters , what an unique idea. Home Thoughts From Abroad sprigs to mind when reading this article . Cillian Murphy was actually talking on the radio last weekend over here but I did not pay that much heed at the time so maybe he was talking about this project .

Watch: Guy Chambers walks through production for Robbie Williams’ Angels

Chambers worked with Williams on many of his hits including Rock DJ and Millennium

Guy Chambers, known for being a regular co-writer with pop artist Robbie Williams, has given a walkthrough of how Williams’ track Angels was produced.

The hit song was created as part of Williams’ debut solo album, 1997’s Life Thru A Lens. It went on to scoop awards for Best Song and Song Of The Year at ceremonies from MTV and The BRIT Awards, and remains his best-selling single.

Chambers worked with Williams on a variety of his tracks including Rock DJ, Millennium and more. He’s also worked on tracks from artists such as Kylie Minogue and Melanie C of the Spice Girls. In a TikTok posted to Chambers’ profile, he shared how he pulled together orchestral elements with sliding guitars, and techniques such as “noodling” to pull the song together and create a dramatic building chorus.

Chambers even revealed how he originally asked George Harrison of The Beatles to play on the track, who politely declined.

Take a look below to watch how the song came to life:

In a recent video shared by Apple Music, Damon Albarn also revealed how he brought to life one his biggest tracks for Gorillaz, Clint Eastwood. In the video, he revealed the main piano motif came entirely from a preset on the Suzuki Omnichord. “It just came like that?” Host Zane Lowe asked.

“That’s it,” Albarn replied. “It’s the ‘Rock One preset’… that’s the whole song.”

Interesting piece on songwriting royalties ...

Congratulations to @raye on her well-deserved Ivor Novello Award and very well said regarding royalty rates for songwriters. Such an important topic in the music industry. “For every song that is released in the world, there are 100 royalty points on a record. A songwriter who has contributed to a record, written the record and even crafted the record entirely is entitled to zero points.”

“I have spent so much time with so many incredible songwriters with Top 10 Billboard hits and they can't pay rent. It's evil and you want to know what's worse, record labels are taking eighty points for marketing.”
