I've listened to half of it so far, I think I like 'Instant Crush' even more than 'Get Lucky'. :o So fantastic.

'Giorgio By Moroder' is good, although I couldn't listen to 'The Game Of Love' in full as it was unbearable. :(

Whats a 180g mp3 and how do I get one?

I think Thom was taking the mick out of Anthony for banging on about his 180g (gram, I'd good quality) vinyl. Mine didn't come yet, but I saw the labels, nearly squeed seeing the classic red/yellow/black Columbia design.

On first listen, this is the best album for a LONG time. Everything is just an incredible song after an incredible song. The only one I dislike so far is The Game Of Love.

Giorgio By Moroder, Instant Crush and Doin It Right are my instant favourites.

I absolutely love this album now, there's not a single track I want to skip and I think the whole thing works together really well. As per usual I have re-ordered it though, preferred tracklist is:

01 Give Life Back to Music

02 Instant Crush

03 Within

04 Lose Yourself to Dance

05 Touch

06 Get Lucky

07 Fragments of Time

08 Doin' it Right

09 Beyond

10 Motherboard

11 The Game of Love

12 Giorgio by Moroder

13 Contact

I've listened to every track a few times and would put Giorgio By Moroder as the closer. I'd actually have Get Lucky as first track.

I'm extremely disappointed in this considering the astronomical love that it's getting in here and in the reviews. Nearly turned it off half way through 'Within' but thought I'd stick to it. Gradually picked up towards the end with 'Doin' It Right' but nothing comes close to 'Get Lucky' and I'm getting bored of that already.

Nothing stuck out as such, I mean I could easily have put it on and then an hour and a half later realise it's finished and not be able to remember any of the songs (bar 'Get Lucky'). :(

That's exactly how I felt to begin with but it just kept drawing me back and after about 10 listens I absolutely adore it. It's not really a dance album to me and certainly doesn't compare to any of their earlier work, it's more of an epic prog-rock album in spirit.

I'll have to hope they are growers because at the minute I don't feel like even giving them a second listen

I've listened to the full album three times now and I'm already finding some songs a lot better than my first impressions. I think it's because we had all these ideas of what we wanted it to sound like and what we thought it might. Once over that, the tracks grow on you but I don't think it's the life changing album it's been made out to be by some people on the internet; my view my change though.

06 Give Life Back To Music - It sounds too much like Get Lucky for my liking

00 The Game Of Love - This is so boring and doesn't go anywhere!

09 Giorgio By Moroder - I think that you have to get this song to like it, and boy am I getting it! :D

04 Within - It's very nice but nice =/= brilliant

08 Instant Crush - Don't you want me baby...

10 Lose Yourself To Dance - Now this is what I want from Daft Punk! *.*

05 Touch - too many elements in this song and it seems too complex on these ears

11 Get Lucky - best song of the year so far, although I prefer the single version

03 Beyond - very boring, doesn't go anywhere

06 Motherboard - decent enough, could grow on me

07 Fragments Of Time - slightly on the wrong side of cheesy but I like this!

10 Doin' It Right - Can't. Stop. Listening.

05 Contact - quite average, although it is a nice closer to an inconsistent album in terms of quality

So, there are some incredible gems on here, a few average or nice songs and one or two dreadful songs on my first proper listen of this album.

GRIFF RATING: 6.5/10

I also feel like doing a rate!

06 Give Life Back to Music : I love the intro of this song. It's a little bit repetive but that can be overlooked. As an album intro it will do but maybe I wanted something a bit more spectacular.

06 The Game of Love : Sort of emotional, but the robot voice and the corny lyrics don't get to me. I do like the instrumentation though and the delivery of ''I just wanted you to stay''.

07 Giorgio the Moroder : I love the intro, reminded me of (and maybe inspired by) Saint Etienne's 'Over the Border'. The spoken parts are not as good as the Saint Etienne song but I love the breaks in this song. They come at just the right time.

07 Within : Again a song with an emotional tone but this one is more like it.

09 Instant Crush : Love this song. I think I've listened to this one the most because it's just so catchy. Especially love the part and lyrics '''I listened to your problems, now you listen to mine', I didn't want to anymore''. The title doesn't make sense to me though. Anyone?

08 Lose Yourself to Dance : Great song, great ambiance. Love the claps and little things they add through the repetition of the song title.

09 Touch : Especially like the intro of this one! I think the transition to the singing is a bit too out of the blue but overall I love the many different parts and structures this song has.

08 Get Lucky : Of course this is a good single (and the right and obvious choice) and I love to have something like this in the charts as opposed to the overproduced generic dance. But for me it works better as a single than in the context of the album. Great to see the charts eating it up though. There's still hope for commercial dance music it seems.

04 Beyond : My least favorite. In fact I can't remember how it goes. I don't really mind it but it's obviously just there. I haven't listened to this very often so it could be a real grower.

09.5 Motherboard : This one is the closest to 'Veridis Quo' (my fav. Daft Punk so) so it's not a surprise that this is my favorite track from the album. I love the transition to some sort of krauthouse about 3 minutes in. Reminded me of something the band 'Boards of Canada' would do. Fantastic.

08 Fragments of Time : Followed by the most poppy track on the album. It's a very good song, I like the vocals + it's suitable as a single. Not the sort of stuff I think DP should experiment with too often though.

08 Doin' It Right : I love the vocals in the background that go ''If you do it right, letting go all night'' etc.. They make this track go from average to good.

09 Contact : Finishing off on a high. The ending is great (partly because the build-up annoys the **** out of my mother) and I love the guitars and the aggressive sound throughout the song.

Overall I would give it an 8 (out of 10). I know the individual grades don't average that but the album as a whole is important too and as a whole it's just a very enjoyable album that I can play from start to finish without skipping. After a slow start the album really picks up.

You're not as positive as I thought you would be actually! Maybe you should listen to 'Motherboard' again

I did say that it was shit the bed amazing on Twitter before I listened to all of it! :D And Motherboard is decent, it could grow on me. :P

New ratings

08 Give Life Back To Music - still a great opener

09 The Game Of Love - beautiful

07 Giorgio By Moroder - growing on me

10 Within - so great.

10 Instant Crush - still my fave

06 Lose Yourself To Dance - ploddy, such a shame this is the next single. The multilayered vocals are good, though.

07 Touch - takes ages to get going but I like it

06 Get Lucky - unfortunately this is getting worse with each play. It needed an amazing breakdown of messed up vocoder voices or mad guitar solo to raise it above the single version. Mexican Monkey is pure genius compared to this.

06 Beyond - nice arpeggio but it doesn't make it great

09 Motherboard - great when it gets going

05 Fragments Of Time - this is "just a song" and not a very good one. Nothing special about it. Some nice synths.

06 Doin' It Right - dull and repetative

10 Contact - brilliant ending

average 7.6

It's plain to see that I'll be picking out a handful of these tracks to add to a Best Of Daft Punk play list.

One thing I've noticed is that some of them are far too long. I mean 'Lose Yourself to Dance' was just annoying towards the end.

Wait, this is the next single? But that's the best choice! :w00t:

Well, the sticker on the album says " includes Get Lucky and Lose Yourself to Dance"

:(

Instant Crush is so much better.

Well, the sticker on the album says " includes Get Lucky and Lose Yourself to Dance"

It says so on mine too but I didn't read anything into it. I've had albums before that put random tracks on stickers.

Who knows though, would be a good single. 'I Gotta Feeling' comes to mind actually. Not that it will do as good as that.

Just listened to the album again and it was slightly better than the first time. Like Griff I'd give it 6.5/10.

Whilst there are a few tracks that aren't bad, there are a few which REALLY are!
