I've noticed a lot recently with big American acts that they just release their singles on air on sale in the UK but other artists hold them back for weeks and even months to get a high chart placing..for example Britney spears released till the world ends straight away in the UK and it thanked on placing in at 21..her first second single to miss the top 20..would it not have been better to release it after a few weeks when the video is released like most artists..lady gaga is worse..releasing born this way on a Friday and denying her a 5th number 1(getting 4 from 1 album and an ep and none from the next)and I know the edge of glory sold over 550000 but it only got to 6 because of the release time..it could have been a top 2 hit if handled properly.they look like minor hits on her discography..same goes for Judas..messy release..do they not care about where their singles chart in the UK anymore?

I think they care more about getting as much money as they can from sales, then seeing people steal their music because they don't want to wait for it.

I'm quite happy with this

If everyone would do this (I think the whole of Universal already are) being #1 was alot more of an achievement and there would be more 79-20-5-6-7-10-15-16-21 kinda chartruns

of course, since American artists care more about US success, since it is considered the biggest achievement to crack the US market.... however some of the biggest artists such as Kylie Minogue, Robbie Williams & Take That are considered half successful because of their lack of US success... cracking the US market means cracking the worldwide market...
In the 90s/Early 00s it was all about achieving a string of Top 5 singles to launch the album from these days it no longer matters - Somebody can get a #26 chart smash and still managed to sell 200k of it and see their album go to #1

The chart runs would be more like 79-20-5-6-5-7-6-9-10-13-14-15-18-21-20-etc.

It's rare that songs that climb up the chart into the top 5 fall down so promptly unfortunately. At least not today, although it seems in previous decades they did.

But to answer the OP's question, I think when an artist is successful all over the world, they're not likely to care about just one country. Also, releasing straight away might deny you a good peak position, but it usually gets you higher overall sales.
