No, I really wasn't talking about new Labour, sure they cocked things up but at least they have the right intentions, for example, with the disgusting bedroom tax at the moment. But she was the Prime Minister, she isn't just a normal granny or mother, and she still affected people's lives, and as I have said I would not personally buy it, mainly because despite the founder of these horrendous ideas being dead, the ideas still live on and are still going to affect people's lives no matter if she is dead or not, but as I have said, you reap what you sow. And I disagree with your last point, of course there were exceptions, there are for everything, but in general the rich benefited and the poorest and the most vulnerable people's lives were made much worse, and that is the general consensus, and is so for a reason.

A- to her family that's exactly what she is!

B- As you know the gap between the rich and the poor widened the greatest under new labour- a party alledgedly pledged to reduce it, that's an economical fact I'm afraid. A cursory glance at Britain in the 70s will tell you this was not a nation at ease with itself long before she came to power- indeed if you're looking for an explanation as to why much of the Thatcher government policy was what it was then the 70s should provide a lot of explanation. Yes her government made mistakes and I understand fully why there are those who hate her but she voted in three times so if she was as universally disliked as some make out then that wouldn't have possible.

A- I know that and I am not saying it isn't a shame for her family, but she is a public figure and not just a figure people have an opinion on for no reason, a figure that effected their lives.

B- As I have said, their is no arguing that Labour really did f*** things up, but they did not make policies that deliberately aimed to make things worse for the poor instead of the rich like Thatcher, their economic failure made things worse for everyone in equal measure (despite things obviously being harder for the poor). Also, it has been almost impossible to clear up the mess that Thatcher left this country in, especially in the poorest areas (surprise surprise) and her mistakes have caused real long-term detrimental effects, which of course Cameron is doing nothing to try and put right and is instead following in her misguided footsteps.

Anyway, I feel like we are going round in circles now, we shall try our best to get this back to the iTunes chart thread and leave the political views for somewhere else.

:/ at the whole Judy Garland thing, I'm no big fan of Thatcher at all but I find it really distasteful.
Oh dear, I've only just found out about this. Thatcher may have made some disgusting decisions but I find this attitude just as disgusting. I mean I'm failing to see the point? She can't be affected, her way of thinking won't disappear because this track makes no.1. I think it's about time everyone accepted what happened and tried their best to move forward. Thatcher dying can't undo what she did.

I agree with what you are saying in the bold statements, however her politics have had lasting effects so it isn't as easy as just 'moving on' or 'forgetting' for many people. I don't see this as a disgusting campaign as I see it more as people using this as an opportunity to make a political statement, they disagree with what she stood for and what she did to this country, and are willing to go to any lengths to put their opinion across, which I think is also added to by the fact they are showing disdain for what Cameron is doing at the moment. I suppose it depends on how personally effected people were by Thatcher's policies, I personally don't blame the poorest people who's lives have been ruined by her government for having little sympathy for the events of this week.

You have expressed your opinion more than once- now it's time to get back to the iTunes thread- Perspectives is there if you wish to continue this. :D

People are now saying they're furious that Margaret Thatcher never gave a public apology over the tragic events of Hillsborough 1989. I caught a bit of Granada Reports earlier and a woman whose son died on that day said she would never forgive Thatcher, even though she has now died, for such a cover up but that's just assuming she was involved in the conspiracy surrounding blurring the truth.

As far as they see it, Thatcher has died. So did their children 24 years ago. It's a bitter pill to shallow.

What I've also noticed is that the people who have praised Thatcher have been very wealthy people from rich backgrounds. Those who have openly critisiced Thaterism (even this morning on BBC News) are of working class background. In short, rich people like Thatcher. Poor people don't. Figures considering the type of political party she represented (and now seems to be getting recycled in the form of David Cameron).

On a final note, it's actually refreshing to have an iTunes thread with some serious thought provoking comments rather the usual "omgz, why is Judy Garland that high lololllllololll111". :D

Ok, just read Gezza's comment above so this won't help matters. Let's go to the Perspectives forum for deep meaningful discussion.

But my point was mainly that this going to no.1 or whatever won't change the past. Yes, her time in office has had long lasting effects but we really need to take something positive from it and help us move on since she left office 23 years ago. It may be a political statement but what exactly is the point and what will people gain from it except a slightly disturbing sense of pleasure. People don't need to be balling their eyes out at her death but it's been the quite the opposite and I find it most sad that people who hate her are the ones who can't stop bringing her up every few seconds whilst the rest of us are just trying to forget her.

Anyway like Gezza said, this is for itunes. Too bad Pink could fall this week due to this campaign :(

Sorry, one more point:

"Poor people didnt like Thatcher"... She got voted in three times. Some poor people must have liked her!

Anyone know why Coldplay's 'The Scientist' is back in the top 100? (#85).

QOTSA's new single not doing too well, only #80 - thought this would go at least top 40, after all as someone said their last lead single did go top 20! Their album is in the top 15 on pre-orders though.

There are lots of rich people. And her policies got even more extreme when she was voted in for a 3rd time, hence why she was ousted out by her own party members in the end.

Anyway, this is the last I am going to say about the matter, much to Gezza's happiness.

Ok. And the Scientist was performed on the Voice last weekend!

Oh yes, forgot about that! I'm sure I didn't see it in the top 100 until earlier today though  Must have just skimmed over it.

 2. Ding-Dong! the Witch Is Dead - Judy Garland (Et Al.)

Don't think she'll quite get to #1, Duke Dumont has a big lead.

Judy Garland (Et Al.) - Ding-Dong! the Witch Is Dead  #5

This is looks like it's heading for #2 on iTunes at least

I knew it would get to #2 at least, i actually expect this to go to #1 on iTunes now.

It's gone too far in my opinion now - as much as I dislike Thatcher, I wouldn't want to see it as #1.
Top 10 in the official chart on Sunday is a certainty now for Judy Garland, it's now a matter of which position within the top 10 it will chart at. I wonder which video clip they will use on Radio 1 during the last hour of the chart show for this song?

Isn't the song from a film?

Just show the relevant clip from that.
