For those wondering (and I certainly was) - the Notsensibles song is from 1979. Far from being a genuine lavish of praise, instead it's like a novelty punk comedy song, so those who are buying it to actually support her are missing the point somewhat.

Next up, a campaign for Transvision Vamp/Jennifer Ellison's 'Baby I Don't Care' for those who have no opinion one way or the other :P

At the end of the day the song title is "Im in love with Margaret Thatcher"

Those who buy it and those who see it chart will see the clear message of the title, not the ironic message of the song itself.

Notsensibles - I'm in Love With Margaret Thatcher  #12

David Cameron: WHAT! Ding Dong! The Witch Is Dead is #1 on iTunes

Nick Clegg: What are we gonna do about this David?

David Cameron: Let's release a pro Margaret Thatcher song and knock those twits off #1

I'd imagine that conversation going:

David Cameron: WHAT! Ding Dong! The Witch Is Dead is #1 on iTunes

Nick Clegg: I know, isn't it hilarious?

David Cameron: :hitler:

Nick Clegg: Erm..I mean, what are we gonna do about this David?

David Cameron: **says something like a true Conservative MP**

P!nk isn't too far behind Duke Dumont now! Poor P!nk missing out on number one so many times over the past few weeks! Still I reckon it'll end up being one of the years biggest sellers
To take a page out of Kobbar's book and as bad as it sounds i think Ding Dong! would certainly have been number 1 if Lady Thatcher died on Saturday night instead of Monday morning.

 11. I'm in Love With Margaret Thatcher - Notsensibles

Duke Dumont's top version has gone down from 0.7002 to 0.6401 on the new Kworb update despite being in dark green itself :o 'Ding-Dong! The Witch Is Dead' is really blowing up right now, really wouldn't be surprised to see it take #1 at this rate.

Looks like the surge for DDTWID that I thought wouldn't happen is actually materialising. BTW is "I'm in Love with Margeret Thatcher" supposed to be a pro-Thatcher track or is it supposed to be a satirical dig at her?

Do you really think it's got a good shot of taking the #1? (I'm deferring to you since you seem to be the most expert on charts around here :P ) What kind of lead do you think it needs tonight/tomorrow to do it?

Well Duke Dumont sold 6k yesterday and will probably sell more today and tomorrow, Ding-Dong! needs to catch up by 12k or 6k a day so if it can get to 2x Duke Dumont it might have a chance. If its lead has peaked now then it most likely still won't get there, it's just if it continues to increase its lead it may just about do it. Its lead is increasing quite quickly as of the last update but there's no way to tell how long it'll keep on increasing. Basically, we'll see :P

Notsensibles now  to #10.

12k is still a lot to catch up on over 2 days... I really can't see it managing it unless a battle to stay at number one against I love maggie thatcher song really kicks off ha but 12k hmm...

Now THIS would be a victory for music.

I'm starting to get to the point where I'm sick of Ding Dong The Witch Is Dead, but that's only because I don't want Thatcher's vision of living to get any more attention than it's already getting. She should be forgotten about so that this country can move on.
I'm a bit bored of all these novelty/charity/one off songs shooting up the charts and then plummeting the next week. As if PJ and Duncan wasn't enough we now have TWO Margaret Thatcher songs about to be in the top 10. :(
Is I'm in love with Margeret Thatcher supposed to be making fun of her or is it to be the opposite point of Ding Dong! ?

If you looked through the thread, you would find your answer. :drama:

I asked that same question earlier and the response I got is that it's a pro-Thatcher track so I guess it is the opposite of DDTWID.

edit: got beaten to it.

Yeah I know the feeling. :/ I think The Saturdays getting to #1 has had some disastrous effect on the chart.
