April 12, 201312 yr I find it fairly amusing. I'm sure the old lady would think it was funny as well. Bless her! That would suggest that she had a sense of humour.
April 12, 201312 yr Author The "and Northern Ireland" part of your reply seems to have vanished.... <_< When I think of the UK, I tend to forget that NI is part of it too. <_<
April 12, 201312 yr That would suggest that she had a sense of humour. I was talking about my mum Suedey! She's got Ding Dong as her ring-tone ... as do nearly everyone I know. Me - I've still got the opening theme to Hawaii 5-0! Edited April 12, 201312 yr by Kath
April 12, 201312 yr It's not as if Margaret Thatcher was a saint in any way. She obviously was to some Griff. ;)
April 12, 201312 yr She obviously was to some Griff. ;) She was a saint to whom?, the toffs, rich, corrupt perhaps? She was a brutish, vile cow. Ding Dong indeed... Edited April 12, 201312 yr by titty
April 12, 201312 yr She was a saint to whom?, the toffs, rich, corrupt perhaps? Probably...and? I wasn't implying anything in my post other than Maggie T probably was a saint to some people. It's hardly illogical to assume that for someone that hated her there was probably someone else that loved her.
April 12, 201312 yr Oh no, I don't like causing arguments. :( Well stop speaking :hitler: It's not really an argument Tom, so I wouldn't worry about it :D
April 12, 201312 yr f*** it, I'm downloading it now. I'd been avoiding to try to take the moral high-road, but the Tories arrogantly insisting the BBC couldn't possibly play it because it would "disrespect" her was the final straw! Edited April 12, 201312 yr by Danny
April 12, 201312 yr f*** it, I'm downloading it now. I'd been avoiding to try to take the moral high-road, but the Tories arrogantly insisting the BBC couldn't possibly play it because it would "disrespect" her was the final straw! I know, that's made me more likely to download it as well! I didn't really care about the campaign before that incident.
April 12, 201312 yr Breaking news: The Chart Show will NOT play Ding Dong when it charts on Sunday. Instead, they'll play a news story about the song with a short extract.
April 12, 201312 yr Disgrace, hopefully it will be no1 now after this controversy. Im going to buy it now!!
April 12, 201312 yr I don't exactly mind that, at least they're not ignoring the song. They've got to keep the Thatcher lovers happy as well and this is the best way of compromising in my opinion. Although I would have preferred it if they did play the song. Edited April 12, 201312 yr by Griefeon
April 12, 201312 yr Although I don't see why they wouldn't play it if it went to #1. So if you haven't bought it yet, do it now!
April 12, 201312 yr It's nice to see China-style censorship is part of the "great country" we're told Maggie has bequeathed to us.
April 12, 201312 yr Breaking news: The Chart Show will NOT play Ding Dong when it charts on Sunday. Instead, they'll play a news story about the song with a short extract. Absolutely right decision. It's a disgrace that it's even allowed to chart. I guess pressure has been put on BBC bosses higher than those at Radio 1.
April 12, 201312 yr Out of interest, does anyone have a copy of the Chart Show for the chart week ending 29/09/2007? This was the chart that Illegal Attacks by Ian Brown featured in. As I recall, before the song was played on the show in full, it was preceded with a disclaimer disassociating the BBC from the song, which I feel would have been the correct thing to do in this situation.
