What about Technologic? That's one of Daft Punk's most well known hits and it might be one of the best regarded as well.

I'd say either Around The World or One More Time is more well known than Technologic to be honest. Technologic has been sampled and used to death in samples along as Harder, better, faster, Stronger, so both are pretty well known, but when you mention Daft Punk, I think that OMT & ATW springs to mind.

Happy to see them at Number 2 already! :D

Edit: at Number 1, and I just bought it :cheer:

Psy down to 11

30. Let Her Go - Passenger

36. Tonight I’m Getting Over You - Carly Rae Jepsen

43. Keep Your Head Up - Ben Howard

50. The Way (feat. Mac Miller) - Ariana Grande

53. Right Here (Andy C Remix) - Rudimental

70. Play Hard (feat. Ne-Yo & Akon) - David Guetta

73. God Is Dead? - Black Sabbath - also just released

89. Diane Young - Vampire Weekend

Finally a French act at the top (and not David Guetta) ! :cheer:

Oh, and Pharrell <3

Hopefully they can be number 1 next week then !

OMG at Daft Punk - that is fantastic.

House is back with a bang in 2013.

Love the song but how have Daft Punk managed to get this hype when previous comebacks of theirs have gone almost unnoticed? Must be because it taps heavily into the current revival of all things 90s! Also I just heard Passenger's Let Her Go on Heart so kudos to them for picking it up and kickstarting it's promo as they did with Jar Of Hearts!

Wow at this hype for Daft Punk!

No chance it will be No. 1 this week as if 'Skyfall' couldn't do it, then this won't. It'll be in with a strong chance of No. 1 next week obviously but it depends on how far radio jumps on board with it.

CALLED IT :D

I didn't quite expect it to get to number 1 THAT FAST, but I'm not that surprised in all honesty. They're one of the most influential and well known house groups around, I'm sure they're first studio release since 2005 is gonna be pretty hyped. 100k+ in a week for Random Access Memories?

Dance really has retuned to rule the roost recently after it's horrific mid 00s slump (commercially and in terms of creativity). Great to see!

I don't think they've actually had an official 'comeback' since 2005 though? I know they did a live album and some movie soundtracks, but I don't think they received that much promotion.

Will it be enough to enter the top 10?
Definitely. Pretty sure it got to number 1 MUCH quicker than the likes of 'Born This Way'/(some other Friday release that was popular, but I can't remember who it was now LOL :\) So top 10 is certain I think.

Only difference is, obviously those two acts were/are more mainstream/CapitalFM-friendly so they were getting the airplay. Beyond Radio 1, I'm not sure if Daft Punk could get any other radio stations behind them to help them have the longevity that the other two had. I hope I'm wrong though after being a bit "they're OK. Got bored of their big hits fast, but don't hate anything I've heard from them", this sounds really good!

EDIT: It was 'Skyfall' which was the other song! LOL

Daft Punk was getting played on Capital FM last night!

Well, there are the SNL / Coachella ads floating around, the Collaborators episodes, etc.

Oh lord at Daft Punk. This feels completely out of nowhere. Probably because I don't really get them (based on listening to 'One More Time' and 'HBFS' and thinking.. 'this is it? this is what dance fans rave about all the time?' *gets executed for blasphemy*), but good on them for getting something now. I'll keep an open mind when I do listen to this new one.

They have the majestic 'Da Funk' and 'Around The World' too.

...oh, wow. When I scrolled down this page I assumed everyone was talking about the albums chart, then I saw them at #1!! :o

Then I had a listen and it's basically just a bland Pharrell Williams song. :( So disappointed, I was hoping for another One More Time or even Technologic. If this makes the official #1 it'll be another example of an act having their biggest hit with their worst song...
