Posted April 14, 201312 yr Compared to her other post album singles this one doesn't seem to be rising up the charts much..not even in the top 100..will this be Rihanna 3rd only single to miss the top 40..or could it be her first(like Britney spears-i wanna go) to miss the top 100..is it too urban for the UK?or will it break the top 40?(isn't it her 3rd official single in the UK?)
April 14, 201312 yr It's shockingly awful, although not quite 'You Da One' bad. It might go top 40 if she does a performance somewhere, if not then probably like #54.
April 14, 201312 yr If radio promote it, I think it'll be a #37 smash. But at the moment it's likely that the release will be cancelled as it's not doing anything.
April 14, 201312 yr I think if Capital put the song in rotation it'll go top 40, but otherwize, I think it'll miss out. I think they're going to choose not to release a music video for this single as well, which probably won't help either. I don't think the urban-ness is the problem, since she got #1 with What's My Name?, and the two best-selling songs of the year so far are Thrift Shop and Mirrors.
April 14, 201312 yr Was 'Man Down' officially a UK single? I'm trying to work out what is her lowest-peaking official single to date. Either way, this song has a good chance of become her new lowest-peaker. And I don't believe anything else on the album has Top 20 potential either.
April 14, 201312 yr This song is bloody awful!! Mind you, so is the rest of the album. Either release 'Jump' or 'Nobodies Business' (the only half decent songs) or move on to the next album.
April 14, 201312 yr it hasn't been confirmed as the 3rd UK single,.i think she should release the obvious ones like 'Right Now' and 'Nobodies Business'...
April 14, 201312 yr it hasn't been confirmed as the 3rd UK single,.i think she should release the obvious ones like 'Right Now' and 'Nobodies Business'... Yes it has, it was given an "impact date" and playlisted by Radio 1 (who only playlist things after record labels have confirmed that they're singles) so it's no less of a single than 'Stay' was. Of course, I'm sure her label and fans will retroactively downgrade it to an "unofficial" single, but that doesn't change the reality. Edited April 14, 201312 yr by Danny

Of course, I'm sure her label and fans will retroactively downgrade it to an "unofficial" single, but that doesn't change the reality. Yes the release is the same as 'Stay' but its treatment is not the same at all. This song is basically an urban US single (where it smashed hugely) which is being released in the UK to fill the gap between 'Stay' and the next worldwide single. And this is basically because Stay rose very early in the UK (because of an X Factor final performance). I don't think anybody expects it to do well here, so it's inevitable flop won't be a surprise or shame. That's why people will "downgrade it" like you say. Edited April 15, 201312 yr by Fruity
April 15, 201312 yr it hasn't been confirmed as the 3rd UK single,.i think she should release the obvious ones like 'Right Now' and 'Nobodies Business'... Right Now isn't really an "obvious" single (maybe if it was 2011 it would've been). Pure pop fans love it obviously, but the rest of the general public don't seem very enthusiastic about the song. In the US, out of the album tracks, Loveeeeeee Song is doing best, by FAR, in sales, airplay and streaming. But releasing that now could be rather messy. Nobodies Business, now that DOES have hype around it. It's one of Choice FM's most played songs in the UK, and it went top 50 on the rhythmic airplay chart in the US too.

I'm not defending the song or anything, but did it not chart in the top 40 when the album was released? I don't think any other song on the album did...

'Love Song' is the only song other than 'Stay' and 'Diamonds' I ever really listen to, the production on it makes for quite an interesting listen. I think that could maybe do OK-ish, but I feel like it would need a radio edit (for the UK atleast) that had less of The Dream rapping and more of Rihanna singing in the verses. I might be wrong but I really don't see why people rave about 'Nobody's Business'. I just think, when you strip out the fact she's being "rebellious" by singing a song with someone who beat her up (with apparently no sense of irony at the fact that they're singing that what they do is nobody's business on a song they're actively trying to get the whole world to listen to), you're left with a song that goes nowhere and sounds dated imo.
April 15, 201312 yr I think 'Pour It Up' is going to flop which is a shame. It might scrape the top 75... I can only see it getting some 'lukewarm' radio support in the UK, but if she actually promoted it by performing it live or making a music video, then top 20 isn't out of the question. I hated it at the start, but now I love it and am sad to see it bombing. I'm not a fan of 'Right Now' or 'Nobodies Business' at all. I would like very much for either 'No Love Allowed', 'Lost In Paradise' or a complete version of 'Love Without Tragedy' to be the next UK single.
