Not only do I expect this is to be a huge, summer, global-wide number one I can fully see it relaunching the career of Mariah and launching Miguel as an international pop star in his own right.

I agree this song will probably be huge, but I'm not sure I see it relaunching her career in the long run, purely because it's so un-like what she usually does (and presumably won't be much like whatever she follows it up with either).

I think it will be big, not sure HOW big in this country, but I see it doing well worldwide. I don't see it as a #1 though. I can see it launching Miguel, as he seems to have been on the verge of becoming something for a while, but I don't think Mariah can be saved. She's very divisive and I'm not sure of her selling power anymore.

I do love her and this song though, I'm probably being a little bit pessimistic because I don't want to get my hopes up too much.

I'm not worried about this not doing well. It's a hit through and through, at least in the US. What I want is for the album to sell a million US, and for the second single to become a reasonable hit. Not many divas past 40 manage hit either of those things nowadays.

If there is any justice then this will be a massive Top 10 smash in the UK, but considering how her last few singles did here, I won't get my hopes up for that. I am amazed that it's in the iTunes Top 40 though!

Her UK positions since her last Top 10 hit ('Touch My Body' - #5)

#30 - Bye Bye

#84 - I'll Be Lovin' U Long Time (feat. T.I.)

#95 - I Stay In Love

#52 - Obsessed

#19 - I Want To Know What Love Is

#81 - Angels Cry (feat. Ne-Yo)

#148 - All I Want For Christmas Is You (Superfestive!) (with Justin Bieber)

#144 - Triumphant (Get 'Em) (feat. Rick Ross & Meek Mill)

Not Top 200:

H.A.T.E.U.

Up Out My Face (feat. Nicki Minaj)

Oh Santa!

When Christmas Comes (feat. John Legend)

Almost Home ( :( )

Still top 5 in the US, and can hopefully shoot into the top 3 once the video drops later.

#84 - I'll Be Lovin' U Long Time (feat. T.I.)

As much as I'm a Mariah hater, I adored this and it deserved so much more. :(

YES. One of my faves. I even preferred it to Touch My Body at the time.

AMAZING. Mariah is BACK. Never properly loved anything of hers since We Belong Together and It's Like That (the latter is by far my fave of hers. SWOOOOOOOOON *.* ).

OOI Pav, have you listened to the 'Emancipation Of Mimi' album? If not, you really, really should. One of my favourite albums! (And it's the reason why I still care for her as much as I do)

STAY TRIUMPHANT.

I love this song so so so much  Instantly puts me in a good mood. She looks amazing for her age too.

Can they just get it on already? Can't even call who i'm lusting over more <3

I need an album of this.

Edit: #43 in today's midweek chart. Going to be a close one on whether it can make top 40 or not come Sunday.

She doesn't look amazing for her age, she looks amazing full stop! In fact she's never looked better. Even J-Lo can't match her right now.

I am honestly loving this with every listen! Also, props to MC for never selling out when the music scene turned to electro-pop dance music for a few years. As I said in another thread, this is by far the best thing she's done since 'Touch My Body' and 'Obsessed'. Looking at how poor her single peaks have been since TMB in 2008, I think 'Obsessed' would've actually done really well and gone top 20 at least if the release was dealt with correctly. I remember it was just cancelled before it really had the chance to take off. The fact that it peaked at #52 is evidence enough that it could've potentially been a hit.

As for 'Beautiful', I really hope it smashes in the UK. How is it doing in America at the moment on iTunes and the BBH100?
