Former X Factor star Ruth Lorenzo will finally release her debut UK single 'The Night' later this year, it has been confirmed.

 

The Spanish singer, who starred on the fifth series of X Factor, releases the track on June 15 and it is available for pre-order on iTunes soon.

 

Lorenzo was mentored by Dannii Minogue during her stint on the show and finished fifth overall. She is best remembered for her flirtation with rival judge Simon Cowell and her barnstorming rendition of Prince's 'Purple Rain', which is generally regarded as one of the show's best ever sing-off performances.

 

The singer has been working on solo material since leaving the show and she still has a strong online fanbase as well as popularity in South America and her home country.

 

Lorenzo will also be performing again in the UK, going on the Celebrities on Ice UK tour. The Celebrities on Ice tour started in Birmingham at the weekend and concludes in Bournemouth on June 15.

 

"I am so excited about being on the Celebrities on Ice UK tour and getting out in front of the British public once again and performing my new single," said Lorenzo.

I would love this woman to have a hit, i have waited a long time for her album.

She was on BOTS last night, and they showed a clip though! SURELY IT'S A GUARANTEED #1?!?!?!?!!!!1!

Hugely disappointing how it has performed, i knew it would not be a hit but did think it would manage a top 1500 entry.Sadly it looks like her time as passed.

Im gutted it has done so bad, while it isnt the best song ever i was just so glad to see her officially release something, she is still my fave x factor contestant ever and i would love her to carve out a career in the music industry but it aint looking good at the moment.

I've just listened to this for the first time now, it's really good! :D If her Eurovision song is as good as this it would be great!
