May 16, 201312 yr You dont need lyrics to make someone cry. Neither is there any Mozart style pieces on the album. I don't mean to take the mick, I am just interested why the album is seen as emotional.
May 16, 201312 yr I was a bit drunk but I think I was crying at the beauty of it. I believe that this is the "Bill & Ted" album that in the future everyone will live their lives by. Obviously in the future we will all be robots or cyborgs so it makes sense. ;) "Doin' it right" is my favourite track so far. Edited May 16, 201312 yr by stebags
May 16, 201312 yr Digital Spy are stating that there are odds of 4/5 for it to break the biggest ever first week sales! (This means it has to sell more than 650,000) They are also betting on it being the biggest selling album ever by the end of 2013. I very much doubt that both of these will actually happen but it's very impressive that it has such high expectations! Article: http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/music/news/a48...g-uk-album.html
May 16, 201312 yr It's so hard to predict. Are people just suggesting that it will surpass reasonable expectations just because Get Lucky has? That said - it will have wide appeal - dance, indie, pop, retro-futurists might like it.
May 16, 201312 yr I think that's pretty unlikely but I also don't see why they would offer such short odds without some sort of precedent. Perhaps it is going to be a mega seller. I could definitely see it breaking the record for one-week digital sales.
May 16, 201312 yr Even as someone who's been one of the more optimistic about its first-week sales (I definitely think 200k is possible), I think they'll need to get another big hit off the album for it to have a chance of being the biggest seller of the year. And, tbh, having listened to the album once, I'm not sure it does have another big hit. EDIT: Wait, I thought the article was saying it just had a chance of being the fastest-seller / biggest total seller of the YEAR, not EVER! How silly. Edited May 16, 201312 yr by Danny

May 16, 201312 yr NME are also reporting on the album "Daft Punk are predicted to break Oasis' record for the fasting selling album in UK chart history. The band's new album 'Random Access Memories' is expected to beat the record currently held by 1997's 'Be Here Now', with bookies Paddy Power cutting the odds dramatically on the French duo's chances, according to Music Week. 'Be Here Now' sold 650,000 in its first week of sales, but 'Random Access Memories' has already scored the highest number of pre-sales for any dance album ever on Amazon. Paddy Power are giving 4/5 odds on the record outselling Oasis. The album is released tomorrow (May 17). The LP has 7/1 odds of becoming the best-selling album in UK chart history by 2015. A Paddy Power spokesperson said: "They might not have a catchy moniker like the 'Beliebers', but fans don't come much more passionate and excitable than Daft Punk enthusiasts so we're expecting big things for the French DJs next week. We only hope that the success doesn’t go straight to their helmets." Despite saying that they will not be touring the record, Paddy Power has odds of 5/2 on a world tour being announced by the end of the year." Source: http://www.nme.com/news/daft-punk/70347
May 16, 201312 yr Who holds that record atm out of interest? Born This Way perhaps? From the (extremely poorly written) MW report the week 'The 20/20 Experience' came out, the 7 highest weekly digital tallies (all those over 50k): 83,675 Coldplay - Mylo Xyloto 79,807 Take That - Progress 76,447 Adele - 21 76,302 Mumford & Sons - Babel 56,937 Lady Gaga - Born This Way 54,260 Justin Timberlake - The 20/20 Experience 50,007 Lana Del Rey - Born To Die All on their debut weeks. Quite surprised that 'Progress' is still 2nd on that list. 'Mylo Xyloto' did similarly, in fact probably slightly worse on iTunes pre-orders compared to 'Random Access Memories'. Of course it was also a Q4 release (although that would benefit CD sales more than downloads probably). Edited May 16, 201312 yr by Bré

Why are u surprised about Progress' digital sales I know it's take that and their fans mainly buy physical albums but it did sell like 560k or something?!
May 16, 201312 yr Why are u surprised about Progress' digital sales I know it's take that and their fans mainly buy physical albums but it did sell like 560k or something?! I didn't say I was surprised about their sales, I said I'm surprised it's still the 2nd highest weekly digital tally. Digital album sales have gone up a lot since 2010.
May 16, 201312 yr Yeah that's true I would say a lot of that list will have changed in 3 years from now but on average each week download album sales still only make up say 35-39% of the sales. But the fact that TT sales were so large it was always going to have a fair number if downloads even in 2010.
May 16, 201312 yr 200-250k max I reckon for the first week, no chance it will get near Oasis' 3 day record should pick up sales when Amazon make it the album of the week for a reduced price and I would expect some supermarkets to put it on displays to catch buyers Edited May 16, 201312 yr by Gerry1975

This is just an advert for Paddy Power masquerading as a news article. Nothing to see here. Move along.
