August 17, 201411 yr If you go by time spent with The Doctor then at 300 years or so it becomes Handles and nobody wants that (assuming you accept the 1 story companion argument) Well it ultimately becomes Clara - considering her splinters have been saving the Doctor his whole life, and we now know that's a span of over 2000 years.
August 17, 201411 yr Well it ultimately becomes Clara - considering her splinters have been saving the Doctor his whole life, and we now know that's a span of over 2000 years. But all of those events aren't part of her time travelling with The Doctor and therefore don't count.
August 17, 201411 yr Number of consecutive episodes: Jamie (117) Number of consecutive serials: Amelia Pond (34) Consecutive years: Sarah Jane Smith and Tegan (4), or Brigadier Lethbridge Stewart (8) Consecutive seasons: Sarah Jane Smith and Tegan (4), or Brigadier Lethbridge Stewart (9) Longest time between first/last (without spinoffs): Sarah Jane Smith (1973-2010) Longest time between first/last (with spinoffs): Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart (1968-2008) or Jo Grant (1971-2010) http://drwho.answers.wikia.com/wiki/Who_is...nning_companion I'm gonna say Sarah Jane is longest running overall at 4 consecutive years, seasons and longest time between appearances on the main show. For NuWho, surely it's Amy then who's appeared in the most consecutive serials and longest time between first and last episode since 2005.
August 17, 201411 yr yay for Jamie, best male companion ever! I like Clara and her backstory, I haven't been ambivalent towards any Who character since Ace, who was a bit annoyingly "street". Even at it's worst, Nu-Who is more enjoyable than most TV (for me), and only the occasional drama series like MARVEL Agents Of SHIELD, Chuck have done it for me over the last 10 years anywhere near as much as Who. Of course I'm biased..

August 19, 201411 yr Bookies have already installed Rose Leslie as favourite to take over from Jenna. Probably too soon to call it but a great big yes please from me!
August 19, 201411 yr Bookies have already installed Rose Leslie as favourite to take over from Jenna. Probably too soon to call it but a great big yes please from me! They can't torture the Doctor with another ginger companion before he's ginger himself!
August 19, 201411 yr Apparently Moffat will be credited for co-writing 'Into the Dalek', 'Time Heist' and 'The Caretaker' alongside his own episodes. Definitely makes sense so they keep in line with actually developing Capaldi's Doctor properly following 'Deep Breath'.
August 19, 201411 yr Yeh, they must be making sure that they get the character just right which is obviously crucial to the show. Can't believe it's starting on Saturday for 12 weeks, arghhh! The longest consecutive run since 2010 :o What.
August 19, 201411 yr Moffat has given us some information about all of the episodes in the latest issue of Radio Times! Have to say, it's sounding like it's going to be one of the best series' of the show (and a little bit different to all the others)! Deep Breath - Killers stalk London in the late 1890′s. A restaurant that is actually a slaughterhouse and a buried spaceship see the Doctor confronting a long-forgotten foe. Into the Dalek - A miniaturised team embark on a fantastic voyage into a Dalek so damaged it has become good. Robot of Sherwood - The Doctor discovers an evil plan from beyond the stars in Sherwood Forest. Who is real and who isn’t? Listen - What scares the Doctor? Ghosts of the past and future crowd into the lives of the Doctor and Clara; a terrified caretaker in a children’s home, the last man standing in the universe, and a little boy who doesn’t want to join the army… “What’s that in the mirror, and the corner of your eye? What’s the footstep following, but never passing by?” Time Heist - The Doctor is tasked with breaking into the Bank of Karabraxos, the deadliest in the cosmos. He is helped by a beautiful shape-shifter and cyber-augmented gamer. But nothing can prepare them for the Teller: a creature that can detect guilt. The Caretaker - Clara has it all under control, so long as everybody in her life never actually meets, but then Coal Hill welcomes a new relief caretaker with a Scottish accent, while the Skovox Blitzer is ready to destroy humanity. Kill the Moon - In the near future, the Doctor and Clara arrive on a decrepit shuttle making a suicide mission to the Moon. Crashing on the lunar surface, they find a mining base full of eviscerated corpses, spider-like creatures scuttling about in the dark, and a terrible dilemma. Mummy on the Orient Express - The Mummy is stalking the passengers and if it sees you you have 66 seconds to live. Clara sees the Doctor at his most deadliest and most ruthless and realises it’s time to say goodbye. Flatline - Clara is now separated from the Doctor and discovers a threat from another dimension. But how do you hide when even the walls are no protection? With no Doctor around, Clara goes against a foe that exists beyond normal perception. In the Forest of the Night - The human race wakes up to the most surprising invasion yet: the trees have moved back in. Everywhere a forest has grown overnight and taken back the Earth. Dark Water / Death in Heaven - In the mysterious world of the Nethersphere, plans have been drawn. Old friends and old enemies manoeuvre around the Doctor, and an impossible choice is looming over him. Death is not an end, promises the organisation known as 3W. “You betrayed me. You betrayed my trust, our friendship, and everything I’ve ever stood for. You let me down.” Excited for 'Mummy on the Orient Express' and 'Flatline' if it looks like the Doctor and Clara's relationship will be explored a bit more and there'll be a Doctor-lite story!
August 20, 201411 yr Robot of Sherwood, Time Heist, The Caretaker and Kill The Moon will be the duffers by the sound of it
August 20, 201411 yr The new series will be accompanied by a set of mini-Confidnetial programmes on the red button and iPlayer http://www.radiotimes.com/news/2014-08-20/...ed-for-series-8
August 20, 201411 yr Robot of Sherwood, Time Heist, The Caretaker and Kill The Moon will be the duffers by the sound of it Really?! 'In the Forest of the Night' sounds like a mega filler to me at this point, and probably the only one.
August 21, 201411 yr 'Listen' sounds like it could be incredible, especially coming after 'Robots of Sherwood', which is probably the one I'm least excited for along with 'The Caretaker' and 'Into the Forest of the Night'.
August 23, 201411 yr Watched Doctor Who for the first time since Matt Smith's first series. I wasn't too keen on the new Doctor at first but I liked him as the episode progressed. All of Clara's scenes were great though, especially that veil scene near the beginning, and I really liked her character. I'm glad I enjoyed the episode the further in it got - at first it seemed confusing and silly like I found Matt Smith's portrayal of the Doctor. Definitely watch again next time!
August 23, 201411 yr The Verdict 10/10, great opening episode, it had the trademark from the Jon Pertwee era, the episode was very dark it reminded me of a Tom Baker episode in places, sets the series up nicely, and I think Peter Capaldi will make a great Dr. once he finds his footing, Peter fits very nicely in the Dr. role. I just hope the other 3 companions, Jenny etc etc don't appear in every episode, I just think they are not needed. I love the new graphics for the rolling credits at the start. And I've just realised the final episode has Heaven in its title, that woman at the end mentioned "Heaven" which could link it to the final episode. (2 parter).
August 23, 201411 yr Twitter opinion seems divided but I loved it. A new Doctor's first episode is often a bit all over the place to start with and this was no exception. However, by having a longer episode, they could put that behind them and get on with the story. I loved the way people on Twitter were complaining about the similarities with The Girl In The Library before it was revealed that it was all deliberate.
August 23, 201411 yr I loved the way people on Twitter were complaining about the similarities with The Girl In The Library before it was revealed that it was all deliberate. Didn't even pick up on that but the similarities are quite obvious now! Why was it deliberate?
August 23, 201411 yr I loved the way people on Twitter were complaining about the similarities with The Girl In The Library before it was revealed that it was all deliberate. Actually I noticed that, I was trying to think what episode title that was, with Madame Pompidou.
August 23, 201411 yr Had no clue that the Clockwork Robots were returning so it was a great surprise. Excellent episode, I feel properly on board with Who for the first time since 2010.
