"Numerous sources" from The Telegraph/BBC are apparently claiming that Rory Kinnear has been offered the role, but he is yet to respond to it. Thoughts? Would you like to see him as the 12th Doctor?

I'm sure it's either just a bit of misdirection to throw people off the scent of who the new Doctor really is, or a story that's been fed to the press by Mr Kinnear's publicist to help him secure some more roles. Having said that, I'm sure he'd do a decent job.

my local government service unit has just been renamed Regeneration Services. All prospective Doctor Who's should presumaby apply through us now rather than the BBC...?
Apparently there are a group of people in the "final running" to be chosen to be the 12th Doctor. Two of the actors in that running are Julian Rhind-Tutt and Burn Gorman (Owen from Torchwood).

The other two in line apparently are Emun Elliott and Richard Coyle.

I doubt Moffat would cast Burn Gorman because of his prominence in a Doctor Who spin-off, but you never know.

To be honest I can't imagine ANY of those being up to much in the role, but we shall see. I do still imagine it will be a total unknown.
Oooh Richard Coyle would be great, I really liked him in Covert Affairs.
I've just googled Richard Coyle and I think he would look like a great Doctor. I think they should go for someone who is around his age and also who doesn't look too old either. As long as his acting his good of course, then he is the best choice that I've seen out of the rumours.

Picture officially revealed by the BBC from An Adventure in Space and Time. There were also pictures leaked of the 1st Doctor's console room, which has been redesigned for the show.

Richard Bradley looks so much like Hartnell there, and I hope he'll show similar traits in the show. Sure he'll do a much better job than Hurndall, anyway.

A song for the 50th anniversary, written by Murray Gold, was premièred at the Doctor Who prom at the weekend.

The other two in line apparently are Emun Elliott and Richard Coyle.

I don't mind any of those two, I would prefer Emun Elliott over Richard Coyle though

Due Autumn, there's another cover floating about too, but unsure whether it's fan made or not.

YAY. It's been far too long since the beginning of series seven, it'll be great to finally rewatch the whole series!

So apparently on the left is the UK cover, and on the right is the US cover. I much prefer the US one, there's too little Clara on the UK one. :P

According to Digital Spy, there's been quite a few bets placed on Peter Capaldi (The Thick of It, In The Loop, Local Hero) for the next Doctor. Although I imagine he'd add something different to the role, given that he's appeared both in the revived Doctor Who and Torchwood, I can't see him being offered the role.

On an interesting note, guess what he is credited as when he appeared in World War Z?

That's right, "WHO Doctor".

Peter Capaldi is brilliant, vespecially in The Thick of It. He also played Sid's father in Skins- which I thought he was amazing in too, however like you I just can't see him being offered the role sadly.
Oh no, I wouldn't be able to look at him any differently than 'John Frobisher'. He's a good actor and all, but I doubt Moffat would consider him due to his major role in a DW spin-off, and his role in The Fires of Pompeii.

Press sources have leaked that the BBC will finally announce the 12th Doctor this weekend.

A special programme on will air this Sunday 4 August at 7pm on BBC1 entitled Doctor Who Live: The Next Doctor. A deliberate disposable repeat of Celebrity Mastermind is currently listed in the timeslot.

The show is going to be filmed in front of a live studio audience with Zoe Ball unveiling the next Doctor. The show will also feature interviews with past Doctors and companions.

Interestingly, this week saw Peter Capaldi inexplicably leap to the top of the bookies lists. Is this because he’s won the role? We’ll find out soon enough.

The BBC are expected to officially confirm the programme at midnight.

Now, before Matt Smith was confirmed as the Doctor, he shot up to favourite to take over the role from David Tennant. It appears, now that this programme has come to light, Peter Capaldi has shot up, and is now favourite to take over Matt Smith... I honestly DO NOT KNOW. If Moffat's STUPID enough to cast such a prominent actor from a Doctor Who spin-off, I have lost faith in him. :/

^He was also in the Fires of Pompeii, no way he can be the next Doctor unless they totally ignore it, which would suck. I don't think they can explain the 'similarities' either, since it's the Doctor his self and not a companion, I mean how could a human look exactly like him?
