May 16, 201313 yr A little bit of chart trivia If Daft Punk manage 5 weeks at #1 with their album release next week, after a bit of checking, the last act to have 5 consecutive weeks at #1 is Katy Perry - I Kissed A Girl, 16 Aug, 2008, as I wouldn't count Adele and Gotye as both acts returned back to #1, so I want Daft Punk to get 5 weeks now :D I don't see why unbroken, or broken runs at #1 should be considered differently?
May 16, 201313 yr Author I don't see why unbroken, or broken runs at #1 should be considered differently? It is different, its not 5 straight weeks at #1 is it
May 16, 201313 yr It couldnt maintain sales for 5 weeks in a row. The returns for no1 could have been because of a default return as all other single sales dropped or a tv appearence. So 5 in a row is more impressive imo! Edited May 16, 201313 yr by steve201
May 16, 201313 yr OCC FB page that Rod Stewart is 31% ahead of Gabrielle If that is yesterdays % lead, Rod is on around 25k and Gabrielle on 19k (as at Wed midweeks)
May 16, 201313 yr If that is yesterdays % lead, Rod is on around 25k and Gabrielle on 19k (as at Wed midweeks) I already posted this earlier in the thread (I got higher figures though - 6,600 / 31 * 100 = 21,290 approx. for Gabrielle) :P
May 16, 201313 yr It couldnt maintain sales for 5 weeks in a row. The returns for no1 could have been because of a default return as all other single sales dropped or a tv appearence. So 5 in a row is more impressive imo! Not always. Sometimes it's because the interrupting single was more fan-based or had a reason to sell hugely in week 1 and fall off after that.
May 16, 201313 yr I already posted this earlier in the thread (I got higher figures though - 6,600 / 31 * 100 = 21,290 approx. for Gabrielle) :P Yep you're right, I was basing my calc on a 6,000 lead rather than a 6,600 lead
May 16, 201313 yr I already posted this earlier in the thread (I got higher figures though - 6,600 / 31 * 100 = 21,290 approx. for Gabrielle) :P It depends which way round you calculate it : if you divide her figure by his, it gives 21.3k v 14.7k, but if vice versa, 27.9k v 21.3k...

May 17, 201313 yr Author Midweek Charts update: Daft Punk claim year's third top seller Source: MW by Paul Willams Daft Punk's Get Lucky is heading for a fourth week at No 1 this Sunday after rising to third place in the year-to-date sales rankings. The Columbia single featuring Pharrell Williams has already sold nearly 80,000 additional copies this week, taking its cumulative UK sales total above 570,000 and placing it only behind Macklemore & Ryan Lewis featuring Wanz's Thrift Shop and Justin Timberlake's Mirrors for 2013 stars, according to the Official Charts Company. It is on course to overtake Mirrors imminently. Behind Get Lucky in the week-to-date Nettwerk's Passenger has moved up 3-2 with Let Her Go, while Hollywood/Polydor at Demi Lovato's Heart Attack and Levels/Ministry of Sound act Wretch 32 with Blackout featuring Shakka are new at 3 and 4 respectively. May 17, 201313 yr More than happy to see Olly Murs Right Place Right Time moving back into the top 30. I have noticed that in general Olly ends up higher on the official chart than his mid-week position so i hope that trend continues.
May 17, 201313 yr Author Another 100k for Daft Punk I think by the end of Saturday cut off point at midnight, it might just scrape it by a whisker.
May 17, 201313 yr Olly Murs at 24 already? He wasn't even Top 40 in Wednesday's midweeks, how did he climb that much in two days :o
May 17, 201313 yr Another 100k for Daft Punk I think by the end of Saturday cut off point at midnight, it might just scrape it by a whisker. 10k friday 10k saturday after selling an average of 16k a day in the 1st 5 days of this week Very do-able, non?
May 17, 201313 yr Daft Punk should hopefully just make the 100,000 in time, pitty they didnt give us an album sales indication.
May 17, 201313 yr 21.3k is not 31% more than 14.7k. 14.7k is 31% less than 21.3k. There's a difference. Yes, that's why I posted both - to cover my ass either way. :)
May 17, 201313 yr Author 10k friday 10k saturday after selling an average of 16k a day in the 1st 5 days of this week Very do-able, non? Very do-able, I would imagine it did a little more than 16k on Sunday though, I just was covering my ass ;) Should do another 100k+ next week with their album release, Naughty Boy will have to settle for #2 I think.
May 17, 201313 yr It will do 110k easily imo, maybe another 100k next week, there can't be many songs that shift 100k for four or five weeks in a row :o
May 17, 201313 yr Def break 100k this week, might even do 110k by the weeks end. Wonder if Passenger has increased in sales again?!
