Here's a few of my faves that didn't make it :(

WOT.

bye

Hoping that The Cardigans and Bjork have appeared. Obviously A-ha will be fairly high up, and presumably Ace Of Base and Aqua. Basically anyone that begins with an 'a'.

She was never officially credited but yes if she had been.

You and your rules.

Tucked away in that album tracklisting...

Ok they had a few hits, but the majority were before 1980 you'd have to agree with that.

Of course.

Depending on the cut-off for sales, they had 3 singles in the Top 200 of the 1980s so there's a chance they will have some in this chart.

Not that I encourage anyone to spoil the surprise by viewing that chart.

I mean for the single release, I just checked polyhex, the GBHS, and the OCC website and none of them credit her, nor the CD single cover or actual disc (though I can't be sure about the spine or back of the CD). :o

Can confirm it's in the small print of the back of the CD cover

Discogs.com is a good site for this sort of thing.

(Can't really argue with a decision to not count Nina Persson as being officially credited though anyhow).

Poor ABBA .

Gezza, It's only my opinion and I like all your previous threads, but this countdown is pointless without "Waterloo", "Dancing Queen", "Knowing Me, Knowing You", "Fernando" e.t.c.

I think, that you MUST add early ABBA singles (before 1980).

There are not any another huge Scandipop artists before 1980, so it's not honesty only for ABBA [All-time # 1 Scandipop group / artist].

Well unfortunately I don't have access to 70's sales so I can't oblige, and the thread is already written so to include would involve a considerable re write. Sorry

100. BEAUTIFUL LIFE- Ace Of Base (102,000)

YEAR: 1996

PEAK POSITION: 15

WKS ON CHART: 6

One of five acts to chart with 6 entries on this list it’s easy to forget that the band were pretty big in the US where this went top 20 as the first release from second album “The Bridge”. It was passed over in favour of “Lucky Love” in Europe for the first single which just fails to make this rundown, but the promo for this features the band transported around in bubbles which the US record label insisted were removed making a rather bizarre spectacle. Anyway starting of this chart as I mean to go on- with camp pop!

99. GOOD MORNING SUNSHINE- Aqua (102,000)

YEAR: 1998

PEAK POSITION: 18

WKS ON CHART: 7

Milking debut album “Aquarium” for all it was worth this is a fifth release for Aqua who had quickly established themselves in the charts of the late 90s. Thanks to a Christmas release the single simultaneously failed to make the top 10 but also sold in good quantities to pass the 100k mark. Originally intended very much in the vein of “Barbie girl” it was transformed into a much more subdued affair by the time the album was made.

98. ANGEL IN THE NIGHT- Basshunter (103,000)

YEAR: 2008

PEAK POSITION: 14

WKS ON CHART: 12

Keeping the same girl in his videos Basshunter finally gets her at the end of the promo for this, his third single and first to miss the top 3. The actress Aylar Lie was actually a former “actress” of an adult nature and went on to star in the Norwegian version of celebrity Big Brother, some may recall her claim that she slept with Robbie Williams back in 2004 which he denied.

What a brilliant idea for a thread! :D

And I like that Basshunter song.

I have no memory of it but Good Morning Sunshine and especially Beautiful Life are CHOOONS.
