Silvi Vrait dies at age 62

From Eurovision.tv

Tallinn, Estonia - It is with great sadness that we share the news of Silvi Vrait passing away. She had represented Estonia in the 1994 Eurovision Song Contest and was a popular and well-respected musician in her home country.

Silvi Vrait was born on April 28th, 1951. She started her musical career already at a young age, graduating from the Kehra Music School as a pianist in 1968. Later she studied English philology at Tartu University and from 1994, she worked as an English teacher at the Tallinn French School.

In 1972, Silvi Vrait had her first appearances on TV, when she performed in the shows "Kaks Takti Ette" and "Käokava". In the following years, she sang with the ensembles Suuk and Fix, and she performed lead roles in several musicals, including Zorba and The Sound Of Music.

In the 1980s, Silvi Vrait was one of the musicians joining the Singing Revolution, an armless struggle in the Baltic states to regain their independence from the Soviet Union. In 1994, she represented Estonia in the Eurovision Song Contest with Nagu Merelaine.

Silvi Vrait had been diagnosed with brain tumor in April. She died on June 28th, 2013.

I reserved a (rather primitive) hotel in Copenhagen, I had to act so bloody fast I didn't even have time to have a quick check on tripadvisor! Anyway if it's not in Copenhagen I'm defo not going and cancelling right away!!
Surprised to see it so early but at least it won't clash with the mid-May sale week at work now! I cancelled my originally booked hotel and can't imagine I'll bother rebooking. The prices are so much higher now and I've got so many other things I need to save for in 2014. Will be very interesting to see which city gets it now.
I'm sticking with my original plan of camping. Gonna drive to Harwich, get the ferry to the Hook of Holland and then spend two weeks driving to Denmark, seeing the contest and driving back from Denmark.
I'm glad they have changed it to the week before, so the final won't crash with our national day.

I can't believe we still don't know the host city, I feel like we usually know sooner than this but I could be wrong!
Well Copenhagen has just been confirmed! It'll be at the B&W Hallerne which used to be a shipyard and the area around it will become a Eurovision island. The slogan will be "Join us".

Well that looks like a complete dump! Makes my decision a little harder as I sort of want to go to Copenhagen again BUT there is also an expensive course I want to do and I can't do both. Career or Eurovision? :o
Currently toying with the idea of booking a hotel in case circumstances allow me to go. I'd like to go to this amazing country before something like Russia or Azerbaijan win again and postpone the thing for at least one more year.

Seriously the most boring and simple Eurovision slogan ever!

I'm picking Career.

My first set of Professional Exams clashes with ESC14  Also when I decided to go to Brissy in November I KO'd Danmark in the interests of saving some holidays for the Commie Games.

Oh this kip has NOTHING on the cattle shed of 1993. It'll be interesting to see how it develops and looks during the contest.
I'm sadly leaning towards career too, besides I seriously doubt anything could top this year's show for me. Everything was so perfect/tuned towards my tastes from Loreen/Agnes right through the the Swedes obsession with the whole thing and the Avicii/Benny and Bjorn opener
Yeah, your career would seem like the wiser choice - you've just experienced it this year so it's not a necessity as much, and in Sweden of all places (the Eurovision home practically). You visited a bit of Denmark while you were there too, if I remember correctly?
