May 13, 201411 yr I'm sure Molly's a lovely girl but I thought she came across pretty badly in that segment and I don't think it can be excused by the interviewer's lack of professionalism or whatever. The whole nature of the presenting has an off-beat, irreverent tone so I don't think it was that weird in context. Watching it, I thought Molly needed to get over herself and just play along, at least feigning excitement for the cake and thanking her. Anyway, it didn't matter in the grand scheme of things but they were my thoughts on the interaction :D. This. Going through the votes, it showed contestants leaving the stage and Molly had an air of self-satisfaction, storming along with her friend, miming to vote. Everyone else waved or blew hearts, etc. Then in the interveiw she ahd the typical stuck-up attitude, really tense and like she needed tog et voer herself like Noah said.
May 13, 201411 yr Molly could have handled it a bit better but to be honest the only act I saw that liked that woman at all was the French boys and well, I'd prefer Molly to have as little in common with them as possible.
May 13, 201411 yr Author The UK's Eurovision contestant Molly has spoken to Digital Spy about her cake reaction going viral. The singer was caught off-guard when Eurovision host Lise Rønne presented her with a Curly Wurly cake from her local bakery during an interview. Her reaction caused a stir on social media with many users poking fun at the face she pulled. Speaking to DS at the X-Men: Days of Future Past premiere in London tonight, Molly responded to the internet humour. "Of all the things to start trending!" she said. "I loved the little captions on my cake face, like, 'What have you done with my gran?' "They did warn me, 'This interview is going to be a little different, but it's nothing to worry about'. Then she came over and said, 'You like cake?' and I was like, 'What? This is weird'. It was just not what I was expecting at all." When asked if she actually ate the cake, the 27-year-old said: "Every little bit of it went. When the show was over I let my hair down, had loads to drink and, oh my God, I just went in. "It got completely demolished. I think everyone was quite grateful for the cake in the end." Molly also gave her opinion on the competition's winner Conchita. "I'm so happy for her," she said. "I think she was always the favourite, and we knew we weren't going to win competing against Conchita." The singer further addressed suggestions Conchita could be a Bond Girl. "No way! Wow, ok, brilliant. It's not something I would ever have expected, but why not? It's 2014, anything can happen." She added: "She's got the figure, 100%. I can imagine her doing the Bond theme. That would be pretty cool. Digital Spy Molly says herself that she just didn't expect it. I've watched over 10 interviews from the last 2 months with Molly and she has had a fantastic attitude throughout.
May 13, 201411 yr She was just nervous about the pending result and caught off guard. Plus if she doesn't bake she would be like wtf - she was funny and I'm glad she acted like she did because it was weird, pointless and down right ridiculous.
May 13, 201411 yr Plus, this is mildly anecdotal and possibly irrelevant but everyone on my Twitter feed was LIVING for her side eye at how ridiculous the interview was.
May 13, 201411 yr Molly could have handled it a bit better but to be honest the only act I saw that liked that woman at all was the French boys and well, I'd prefer Molly to have as little in common with them as possible. Even THEY looked like they didn't have a clue until they brought that guy out. They started off looking completely confused but then played along. Not one person she interviewed had a clue what was going. ---- And yes, Molly's side eye was absolutely the best part of the whole segment.
May 13, 201411 yr Danish hosts are always ridiculous! I do feel for Molly but I think we all started to believe the hype, if EVERYONE tells you something will finish top five, you start to believe it! Having met her in person I can confirm that she's an absolutely lovely girl with no airs and graces, and anybody would have been caught out by that bizarre interview. I've never bought into political voting, and I still don't believe it happens (well maybe it does now with certain corrupt juries, how ironic considering their reintroduction was supposed to stop it!) but certainly politics were on show this year with the reaction to Russia, as Molly mentioned, which was a shame as it has nothing to do with those girls, but the public like to make their voices heard in the strangest of places. Still, they came 7th so political voting, if it existed would have had them last with nul points.
May 14, 201411 yr I don't think any more can be read into that performance than the final one. The vocals were a bit better in the verses where she has to sing deeper, but I don't really think people's problems with the performance were her vocals. It was more not connecting to the song, and there being very little performance element. For a song so powerful and punchy, I do agree, it needed more than fiery rain in the last chorus.
May 15, 201411 yr No surprise that Molly has dropped out if the Top 10 in today's midweek update - Really hope it can stay Top 15 by Sunday but with the way it's dropping on iTunes it's doubtful :(
May 18, 201411 yr Gutted for Molly that she has missed the Top 20 especially seeing as she was #10 on Tuesday and Wednesday and #12 on Thursday... Sales dropped off badly over the weekend, Although considering she finished 17th I guess a #23 hit is decent..
June 6, 201411 yr Author Molly will be performing on the BBC Introducing stage at Glastonbury, so her dream to perform at Glastonbury will be realised! So happy for her! :D
