The only thing that excites me about this week's playlist is that they've dropped 'Play Hard' without an A-listing, despite it being big. It's interesting, how similar it is to what happened with 'Clown'. Perhaps we're starting to see a pattern emerge where singles ridiculously far into album campaigns won't get full Radio 1 backing, regardless of how big they are. I'm certainly not complaining, anyway.

C-List

Biffy Clyro - Opposite

The next Biffy Clyro song to be molested by Radio 1. Expect this to be in the A-List next week.

And even Radio 2 of all stations have added "Blurred Lines" to their playlist... It's going to be a sales monster by this point. Have Heart picked up on it yet?

I can see Blurred Lines getting played by all the stations that play Get Lucky tbh. It's got huge crossover appeal. I think Heart will play it, but it's rare for them to play a song pre-release.

Keep Your Head Up was on the A-List for a month and a half earlier this year though.

Indeed i think thats why is was blisted for 6 weeks but they played it like an alist track for a couple of week round its impact date there - over 10/12 spins a week.

As you say it would be good if the stopped alisting 5/6th songs from albums but they alisted the new songs from The Script/Two Door Cinema (those 2 seems to have been on the alist side by side throughout their singles campaigns since the first singles last August.) But i suppose they are different as they are 'indie' songs.

Indeed but i would look at the end of last years/this years releases from Howard to be a re-release of the singles because his profile was higher - a bit like Lightening Bugg by Jake Bugg at Christmas (Although KYHU was blisted last summer, whereas LB was in the INMET list for a month).

Surprised that Union J are still only c List.

I'm not sure that re-releasing Another Love by Tom Odell is a great idea. It's been around and been played since December. I guess this means there is nothing else as good on the album.

A remix of Chase & Status? What's wrong with the original. I was underwhelmed at first, but it's grown to be on of my favourites (alongside "Time" and "End Credits").

Great to see them still supporting the likes of The Script, Two Door Cinema Club and Everything Everything, despite the fact the songs aren't going to do much. Hoping by some miracle that Biffy Clyro nab another T100, it could do if they play it every other show like "Biblical".

Yeah I thought Union J would have moved up to B-list this week. And I completely agree about Tom Odell, for someone as hyped as him, you'd think they would be raring to release new songs, not re-release old ones.

Another Love has been given an official release here and it seems to be his most popular song especially around europe where its been high up their charts so it makes sense to give it a big push before the album release!
Yeah not sure where it charted exactly but in MW they have itunes charts from around europe and AL was high up there in places like Holland, Belgium, Germany & Denmark! Its a popular song so should rise naturally when radio 1 play it alot. Its one of my fav songs of 2013 so far!!

I started compiliing the weekly Radio 1 playlist last January and I thought it would be interesting to see who's been on the playlist the most number of times since then... surprisingly it's not Rihanna!

Woo for Alt-J and Disclosure. <3
Great info there, shows exactly what radio 1 is all about new music & the biggest hits of the day - hence - Jake Bugg, One Direction, Alt-J (where would they be without radio 1), David Guetta & Jessie Ware!!

5 songs for Disclosure? There's been You & Me, White Noise, Latch, Tenderly. What was the other?

Radio 1 really love Alt-J don't they? I'm can't really say I'm a big fan personally, but good on them though!

Control - was playlisted last July.

I downloaded control last April couldnt believe how big they would become!!
Have Tegan and Sara ever been playlited on R1? I Was A Fool is A-List on Radio 2, but it fits in nicely with the Katy Perry sound which tends to get flogged on R1.
