Will we get another single? :(

I'm sure there'll be another one at least, I could see them picking Your Type, or possibly Making The Most Of The Night. Though if she really wants to be standing ten feet, ten feet TALL above the competition then Emotion will be the next choice!

(also (unrelated) anyone giving 'All That' the lowest rating on the album, please go sit in the corner and mull over how wrong you are x)

10 Run Away With Me

08 Emotion

11 I Really Like You

08 Gimmie Love

08 All That

04 Boy Problems

09 Making The Most Of The Night

10 Your Type

09 Let's Get Lost

08 LA Hallucinations

08 Warm Blood

10 When I Needed You

09 Black Heart

Thinking of making a purchase of this soon, aside from the singles I'm loving "Making The Most of the Night" and "Warm Blood". Everything about the latter is so so gorgeous .

You all probably hate me by now but THIS IS STILL GROWING ON ME AND THIS IS THE ONLY PLACE I HAVE TO EXPRESS MY LOVE FOR IT. Truly and very easily my favourite album in absolutely AGES.
Despite initially thinking this was overrated this has fully hit me, challenging for album of the year alongside Carrie and Selena tbh.

I know some of you will be interested to hear this, so here is Sia's newly leaked demo of Making the Most of the Night:

It's interesting! I'd been wondering if we'd ever get to hear it.

I don't feel Sia captures the same sense of passion and warmth which makes the song what it is (for Carly).

I agree she sounds detatched and empty, not unusual for Sia recently, but then again being a demo it is naturally going to be a bit more hollow I suppose.

hope this is true can someone confirm?

Were you surprised by the amazing critical reaction to Emotion?

Very pleasantly surprised. I can't say that I could have predicted that in a million years, but it meant a lot to me to get nods from critics and people in the writing community. Just because I think of myself probably more as a writer than anything else. It's my no. 1 passion.

Besides all the critics who are obsessed with Emotion, what's the average Carly Rae Jepsen fan like?

That's been the cool discovery of this. We had a lot of diversity with it. We had young kids, and we had some adults. We still sometimes get some young bunnies, but it's rare. It's more people my age, and I think for my bandmates and myself, there's something about being able to [perform] for people who are more close in age. It feels gratifying.

How do you feel about "Call Me Maybe" now?

I have mostly great feelings about it. It's been a game-changer and a life-changer for me and has allowed me the freedom to be able to make albums like Emotion without pressure of worrying about anything other than what I want to make, so that's great. That being said, I've sung the song a great deal of times, so if you were to ask me to sing any song of my choosing, that probably wouldn't be top of my list just because it's getting a little repetitive to me.

Did you ever worry that you were going to become known as the "Call Me Maybe" girl?

I had thoughts about that perception. It would be lying to say there wasn't any pressure, because there was. It was almost too good to be true, and now it's almost became too big and "What will we do next?" I had to shake off that feeling for myself before I could get into writing Emotion. It had to not be about trying to prove something. I feel like if you're writing music just to have a different identity in the public's eye, it's sort of the wrong motive. It's gotta be coming from a place of what you love and what you're passionate about.

Have you started planning a follow-up to Emotion?

I think people have this idea that with record cycles you'll put out an album, then you'll wait and wait and wait, and when it's time you'll start writing the next album. Maybe that's how it works for some people, but for me it's always been just a constant flow of writing. I write all of the time. In a way I guess the simple answer is yes, because I'm constantly collecting ideas. I don't know how many of those will make the album ... but I'm collecting ideas as I go.

What kind of stuff is inspiring you as you work on new material?

I'm scared to say out loud and have it in print because I know how much my mind changes through the process. Even where I started with Emotion [versus] where I ended up were completely different places, so right now I can tell you what I'm experimenting with but there's no guarantee that that's what will be on the album. I've been really into this subtle sort of disco. I'm enjoying the combination of ABBA meets Feist. I know that sounds insane, but trust me!

I'm still totally jamming to Run Away With Me omfg. It's still so amazing!

SO, I'm a little late with this album. I read all the end of year reviews and was shocked how many sites/magazines/forums etc featured this so highly and positively. Even places that usually never support albums that are so unashamedly pop.

I've enjoyed the album so much, I bought the physical. It's brilliant. There is more "emotion" in the album than I expected. "Your Type" is brilliant and a little bit heart breaking. The songs aren't instantly relateable, they are a little more complex and after a couple of times of hearing, the songs are so easy to identify with.

Really is a terrible shame that it has commercially not met it's potential. I wouldn't have led the album with Really Like You, whilst it's a great song, there is more depth to the album. BUT it's a fun song with a hook, so I understand why they led with it. Have I missed a rate for this album? :(

still my daily bop. love it so much
