 40 Bastille - Laura Palmer

Any chance this could finally go Top 40 officially?

Unfortunately, not this week. :(

Laura Palmer is going to be one of the unluckiest songs not to make the top 40 - it's been hovering around it for ages and has got so close, but I just get the impression its chance is up. You never know though...

 8. Lost & Not Found (feat. Louis M^ttrs) - Chase & Status

 9. Lighters (The One) - Gabz

:cheer:

iTunes Pop chart:

 921. Diana Vickers - Cinderella (Pre-order)

Quite a significant climb, that's its highest peak since it's initial peak when the pre-order was first available!

 It has probably received 3 more pre-orders since the last update. I wonder how high it'd have to go on the Pop Chart to appear on the overall one.

Currently #420 on the pop chart is #1,498 overall.

I once told my parents that Mika was the first gay person to get a #1 when Grace Kelly went to #1 (from what I remember, it was reported in the media at the time) and my parents went MENTAL with me.

I was nine years old and didn't know any better, so I suppose that's my excuse.

Mika wasn't the first gay person to get a #1 though, unless I forgot someone I think it's Elton John.

EDIT: Didn't realise you knew that until you edited your post :P

I know it always rises to the top 40 by friday evenings then drops with the weekend effect. Its clearly the radio 1 alisting that has kept it up here but its been removed this week after a long time in the alist so this should be the last week they challenge for the top 40 unfort

It's pretty irrelevant who the first gay person to have a number one is. And it certainly wasn't Elton John by the way

Let me guess, Cliff Richard? :kink:

Tbh I don't think anyone would know who the first gay musician to get to #1 was - it's most likely to be a 50s/60s artist who was in the closet.
I think the discussion should be who's the first OPENLY gay person to #1. Anyone?
Frankie Goes To Hollywood?

Culture Club hit #1 before them, though Boy George "officially" came out by 1983.

150 - Flatline, Mutya Keisha Siobhan.

FLOPS.

FLOPS.

It's not out until 1st September, this is just from sales of the pre-order. So actually they aren't doing badly.
