Since when did "level" have anything to do with commercial success? Anyway, on that topic, I don't think Iggy (and maybe even Azealia herself) will have a hit anywhere near as big as '212'. I think 'ATM Jam' could do reasonably well though.

212 is probably the most overrated "hit" of all time by some people online lmao

And I have no doubt Iggy will keep having hit singles. As for Azealia things don't look so good...

I don't think Azealia suits the mainstream tbh. She's too explicit and vulgar for radio and the media.

I've never got the impression that '212' is overrated on the internet. No one claims it's the second-coming or anything. I just see a lot of people loving it. The song has been such a huge hit, commercially, in the clubs and culturally over the past couple of years.

Plus, "212" is one of the best selling songs in recent memory to not go top 10. It must be over the 400K mark by now.

If you don't think 212 was a hit, I take it you've never been clubbing before. I'm seriously sick of hearing that song.

I agree that Iggy will probably have more hits than Azealia in the future though.

Yeah, I think it was the best-selling song of 2012 not to reach top 10? Although Set Fire to the Rain I'm sure must've sold more. Latch by Disclosure must've sold a lot too, although it was split between 2 years so I don't really know.

Not in top 1500 of genre chart

 4920. Matt Cardle & Melanie C - Loving You (18 August 2013)

:left: 4920. A*M*E - Heartless (14 July 2013)

Those positions lower than the top 1500 were calculated using the positions from genre charts as I explained earlier in the week.

Diana did actually drop out of the top 1500 on Pop iTunes earlier, so its good to see she's climbing again!

It doesn't matter if Azealia doesn't have another "212" hit, she cares more about her music (as does Iggy Azalea actually). "ATM Jam" to take the chart by storm though please. Will do so if the release date and video are timed well (i.e. early September for release).

I love Pharrell, but his song with Azealia, and also his song with Nelly have disappointed me a bit. I LOVE percussion-lead music as much as he does, but he's gone a bit too far I think lol. If a song is to have commercial success it needs some melody in there to be catchy to people imo. Like there's all those house-ish songs that have done well this year (like Jack by Breach hopefully :kink:), they're very minimal, but they still have a melody there.

So to sum up, I don't think ATM Jam will be a hit, at least not a chart hit.

Dreadful for A*M*E, it sounds like such a hit and she just came off a #01 single. Wonder why Radio are so reluctant to play her?!

Oh my god, reading the top (well quoted) post made me think people were comparing Azealia's upcoming releases with potential '21' style success!

For what it's worth, she was interviewed on the radio earlier today and they played her song.

Under some definitions, I live in a ghetto, so I think I'd be okay.

Given they're #30 in the midweeks and not gonna climb higher, it's quite clear they won't.

The "joke" is old now, not that it was ever funny in the first place.

Well the initial joke was that it was gonna PEAK there. Oops.

Didn't check the midweeks fail :(

Hope this huge flop doesn't make them split. Maybe they'll just go back to releasing dance.

My gym at the moment is great - plays all the good songs, Lola's Theme annnd All Fired Up! Say what yall want, that is their peak. Still don't know why it didn't get #1 when Start Without You did in the same period but whatever.

'Start Without You' >>> 'All Fired Up', that's why that got to number 1 and they didn't. and the fact The Sats had more competition than AB, but shhhh! :kink:

 Out of curiosity, what city/area do you live in?

212 was played at my Prom last week, crazy moment.

Was Thrift Shop the last transatlantic #1? I'm not even sure if that was #1 at the same time (in the US & UK) actually.

Meanwhile, Azealia is busy participating in a Twitter war with Lily Allen, of all people. :o

Azealia in a Twitter war? No way :o

'Blurred Lines' surely :P

She heard Lils singing on a Pink song on the radio or something?
