July 12, 201312 yr Tom Odell surely, he seems to be getting quite a big push so will no doubt pick up a nod/ Would love to see Johnny Marr, Bat for Lashes, Foals, Savages, Public Service Broadcasting, Laura Mvula, James Blake, Disclosure and David Bowie nominated.
July 13, 201312 yr They often nominate a rap album but I can't really think of any that could be nominated this year. SevenSeize's list looks about right if you add Laura Mvula. I'm unsure on whether they will nominate Disclosure though.
July 13, 201312 yr Disclosure will probably get the dance nod over Rudimental. When you throw in the obligatory jazz and folk nominees then someone big is likely to miss out, I think they might snub Bowie.
July 13, 201312 yr Some other potentials ~ Boards of Canada - Tomorrow's Harvest (DARK HORSE.) Villagers - {Awayland} I Am Kloot - Let It All In Bonobo - The North Borders Rudimental - Home
July 14, 201312 yr 'Let It All In' is a decent shout, their last album was nominated and critics have been just as favourable. I'd love it if Public Service Broadcasting were nominated, it's certainly the type of thing they quite like.
July 25, 201311 yr The Deserters by Rachel Zeffira would be a great nomination and would probably "tick enough boxes" to justify its inclusion. Would also like to see Steve Mason and f*** Buttons on the list, but it'll be the usual bunch of flash in the pan debuts.
July 25, 201311 yr Another vote for Public Service Broadcasting. I think Jake Bugg seems like one of the more obvious choices this year. Which could hurt his chances. Everything Everything on there would be nice as well. F**k Buttons would be amazing, but I can't see it.
August 19, 201311 yr Author The Arctic Monkeys album is released just before the deadline so that might also make the list.
August 21, 201311 yr I'd like to see the Arctic Monkeys missed off for a change. The debut was a real breath of fresh air, the second wasn't bad, but they're just established and not that exciting now. Unless, of course, the new album turns out to be another breath of fresh air!
August 29, 201311 yr London Grammar currently favourites (and the album isn't even RELEASED yet).. 15/8 London Grammar "If You Wait" 4/1 Foals "Holy Fire" 4/1 Steve Mason "Monkey Minds In The Devil's Time" 9/2 David Bowie "The Next Day" 5/1 Laura Marling "Once I Was An Eagle" 7/1 Savages "Silence Yourself" 14/1 Disclosure "Settle" 14/1 Primal Scream "More Light" 16/1 CHVRCHES "The Bones Of What You Believe" (is this even eligible- it's not out until several weeks after the shortlist is announced???) 20/1 Outfit "Performance" 20/1 King Krule "6 Feet Under The Moon" 20/1 These New Puritans "Fields Of Reeds" 20/1 Peace "In Love" 20/1 Daughter "If You Leave" 20/1 Tom Odell "Long Way Down" 25/1 Everything Everything "Arc" 28/1 Laura Mvula "Sing To The Moon" 33/1 Hurts "Exile" 33/1 Goldheart Assembly "Long Distance Song Effects" 33/1 I Am Kloot "Let It All In" 33/1 The Joy Formidable "Wolf's Law" 33/1 Nadine Shah "Love Your Dum And Mad" 33/1 Public Service Broadcasting "Inform Educate Entertain" 33/1 Miles Kane "Don't Forget Who You Are" 33/1 Biffy Clyro "Opposites" 40/1 Suede "Bloodsports" 40/1 New Order "Lost Sirens" 40/1 Noah and the Whale "Heart Of Nowhere" 40/1 Stereophonics "Graffiti On The Train" 50/1 Bullet For My Valentine "Temper, Temper" 50/1 Johnny Marr "The Message" 50/1 Alice Russell "To Dust" 50/1 Djrum "Seven Lies" 50/1 Example "The Evolution Of Man" 50/1 Goldfrapp "Tales Of Us" 80/1 Courteeners "Anna"
August 29, 201311 yr New Order - Lost Sirens.....as if a useless b-sides album would be nominated. Heehe and I love the fact that it has better odds than the Stereophonics!
August 30, 201311 yr Heehe and I love the fact that it has better odds than the Stereophonics! That makes sense though - most albums released last year deserve better odds than the Stereophonics! I'm really pleased Steve Mason looks a cert for nomination - and, if I were a betting man, that's where my fiver would be going.
August 30, 201311 yr Who is even bothering to offer odds for Bullet? It'd be typically Mercury if their least successful (and worst) album were the first to be nominated. I'd guess either Foals or Disclosure.
August 30, 201311 yr For this years token leftfield jazzy etc nomination, I imagine that the lovely Melt Yourself Down might just nab it with their self-titled debut.
