October 30, 201311 yr Yannis was just on Channel 4 news speaking out against Spotify. He made some valid points I feel. Winner to be revealed in just a few hours..
October 30, 201311 yr didn't realise this was happening tonight eeek Bookies have Arctics/Laura Mvula as the faves, though i'd prefer a Disclosure/James Blake/Savages win out of the list
October 30, 201311 yr Still think BuzzJack should do our own version, the 'Thalliums' (one atomic number ~higher~ than Mercury) Public Service Broadcasting FTW.
October 30, 201311 yr Still think BuzzJack should do our own version, the 'Thalliums' (one atomic number ~higher~ than Mercury) Public Service Broadcasting FTW. I think there's more than enough music album prizes as it is. And that's coming from someone who's a) on the judging panel of Northern Ireland's equivalent of the Mercury Prize, and b) someone who wants to see Public Service Broadcasting win all the prizes. Foals for the win this evening.
October 30, 201311 yr Well I'm more than happy with that. I think 'Overgrown' is better than his debut, much more consistent.
October 30, 201311 yr Very pleased. Definitely my favourite of the nominated albums, and probably up there as one of the best of the past year. I'd argue his debut is probably a bit better though.
October 30, 201311 yr I have to admit I never listened to the album before. I am listening now. Has to be the most boring Mercury winner yet.
October 30, 201311 yr honestly never expected him to get it this year! Really happy with that result <3
October 30, 201311 yr Odd choice, but a fantastic album regardless. Much stronger than the debut. Why do you think it's an odd choice?
October 30, 201311 yr My friend just described it as Antony and the Johnsons being produced by Burial.
October 30, 201311 yr I still think the same as I did when 'Overgrown' first came out. It's a much more consistent album but doesn't have as many highlights as the debut. They're about level.
