Legend has it that Michael considered Madonna's lyrical contribution to In the Closet "too explicit" LOL

Kicking starting things and leaping

is the third single from the album with the same name. Extremely feel good and perfectly capturing the feel of the album, the song received mid-level votes from the majority of people allowing for it to chart similarly midtable here. An anthem for letting go of your troubles and just enjoying yourself, music doesn't get more joyous than this <3

Next up is one of the most divisive songs on the countdown,

, the lead single from Michael’s ninth studio album (and ironically the first single from said album to enter the countdown so far ooops). Teaming up with his sister Janet, who was also flying the family flag sky high at this point, the song was an aggressive and abrasive return for Michael as he hit out against the child molestation accusations that he faced in the early nineties. The music video that accompanied the track was equally as bold and daring and has since been recorded as the most expensive video ever made which perfectly fits with the overall feel of the song where nothing is left unheard and everything is in your face. I did expect the song to at least get top 20 here, but it seems to have gotten a mixed reaction from you guys and hasn’t quite made history here.

Finally, missing the top 10 by a v. small margin i think LiamK is

, released as part of a remixed album in the late nineties. Another mid-table affair not attracting too much hate, it's odd song that doesn't seem to take off as much as it should despite that infectious chorus. With an equally as strange music video there is something slightly off with the whole campaign (probably his awful diction in those verses). Still, it's a fun song that will never fail to get you moving and sometimes that's all you need.

Now we are getting to the some of the best records! Quite impressed 'Blood on the Dancefloor' was higher than those other two. Not going to be happy if really undeserving songs are ahead of these, although these should be higher regardless.

The first single from Michael's final studio album (and also the favourite single off it according to these results) crashes out leaving an Invincible-free top 20.

comes complete with an epic 13 minute long music video starring Chris Tucker in an equally as grand song that i personally find a perfect and fitting celebration that brought MJ into the twenty first century. The song wasn't met with the highest of appraisal however and this was reflected in its chart performance and subsequently in the performance of the album from which it was taken from. A personal favourite though, it still gets me jammin' even if it unfortunately did not become one his signature hits.

From the dance-tastic to the darkly brooding

which could not be any more different from the previous song if it tried. It seemed to divide opinion among the voters with a load of high points balancing against a load of hate as some obviously failed to recognise just how painful and tantalising a song it really is. The music video too perfectly reflects the dark tone of the song and still leaves me feeling super cold (which is probably why a few of you voted it so low). Lyrically haunting and painful, this is Michael at his most open.

Next up is

, complete with yet another epic video this time featuring Eddie Murphy and again a drastic change of pace. The song was a fairly decent commercial success helped by the pulsating beat and rousing tones of Michael as he pines for his past lover. The final few minutes are particularly loud and as it crescendos over and over again you can really feel the passion behind the vocals. Narrowly missing out on a top 20 place it still managed to chart comfortably without receiving huge amounts of high points. Those sweet memories have never sounded so good.

Another 3 fantastic songs! 'You Rock My World' is one of my favourites, shows how much of an incredible artist MJ was that he still managed to create such great singles years after his peak.

You Rock My World is incredibly good fun. Really should have given it a 9. Love the way the instrumentation builds from something quite slight and simple to really evocative and energetic.

Two of my 11s gone already and I'm guessing it won't be too long before we see the next one also.

I need to make myself a new MJ playlist after seeing all this unravel, so many excellent tracks to include.

Did I not give Stranger a 10? Shame on may.

You did sorry! Just forgot to include you up there, but edited it in now.

And apologies for the delay, will try whipping it all out much faster now. TOP 20 TIME!

Two very different tracks here, showing two equally as agonising sides of Michael. The first,

is one of his biggest signature hits and became a force commercially and culturally as it debuted at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 an achievement that is much rarer than you'd think. Looking back there is no denying that the song was always going to be a mammoth hit as it has everything needed to elevate it to classic status; simple, yet touching lyrics, a beautiful vocal tone and stunning instrumental. It does seem to have withered recently (probably helped by that X Factor finalists cover) and it probably sits more comfortably in the tried-and-tested cheese cabinet, but for what it is, there is no denying why it was so big. Michael opening it all out (which according to Griff is all too real in the music video).

And where to start with this? Apologies for my looning, but this is quite simply my favourite track from the King of Pop so excuse me while I disown Kenneth and Thomas altogether. The reason Michael was such a force was because he had everything needed to succeed in the industry and it all came directly from inside of him.

shows that off perfectly as it draws together everything that made the man great into one perfectly crisp and polished anthem and showcased in a way that only Michael could; extravagant and over-the-top, but still so personal and raw. The Pop King taking on a rock ballad and throwing it all in to create this majestic powerhouse which starts off delightfully brooding before exploding into that gigantic chorus. Just give in.

You Are Not Alone is my 2nd fave MJ song after Earth Song, adore it. should have been top 10! Give In To Me isn't anything special imo.
I liked 'You Are Not Alone' a lot more than I thought I did when I listened to it during the voting stages. I thought I found it too overplayed so I would have tired of it, but his vocals are excellent, note perfect.

Although it didn’t receive a full UK release, Human Nature has since gone on to become a vintage Michael track and one of his many underrated gems. Often sampled by artists and adored by critics and the public, it’s a dainty, plodding number that shows off a more whimsical side to Michael. I adore the instrumental and Michael’s soft tones, but it is fairly forgettable among the mammoth number of huge hitters he had. Still, most of you guys really adore it and have sent it straight into the top 20.

The first single from what many consider to be Michael’s #1 album (more on whether you actually agree on that to come),

is as perfect a duet as you can get. Originally planned as a duet with one of the big divas of the time (Whitney/Aretha) it was later given to the much lesser known Siedah Garrett who received quite the shock when she entered into the recording studio to find Michael and a pair of microphones ready for them to create magic with. A stunning song and the first of many #1 singles to come off the album, it set the campaign alight in beautiful style all over the globe. Michael’s plans to make an album bigger than Thriller were fast becoming a reality…

Pah! Michael's Human Nature shits all over that Madonna dirge! Great song. Vastly underrated. The Siedah duet is decent but not a favourite of mine. Only the chorus really knocks, and it's rather too short.
