Does anyone know what is the highest a pre-order song has got to on itunes before its release date?

 

Fairly sure it was either "Blurred Lines" or "Wake Me Up". "Wake Me Up" was top 10, I think.

Yeah it was Wake Me Up at 10. Hoping Miley can get #9 by tonight though.

Seems like an odd move to release a random remix before the main version comes out. Could lead to a fun start to Burn's chart run.

I knew that releasing a remix before the original sounded odd, so I did some research and now I have a few reasons to believe this is a 'fake' release

 

1. The 'alienator' remix of Burn is not on YouTube

2. The artwork cover is exactly the same as Burn, but with "(Alienator Remix)" added in a different font type to "ELLIE GOULDING BURN"

3. The song sounds almost exactly like the original, the only difference being that there is a beat ontop of it, a bit like The Hype Squad's version of Black and Yellow

4. It's 79p whereas the original is 99p

5. According to iTunes the original will be released on the record label "Polydor Ltd. (UK)" whereas the Alienator remix is on the 'record label' "Alienator"

 

I wouldn't be surprised if this gets deleted sometime next week.

This wouldn't be the first time. A bootleg remix of Mariah Carey's "Obsessed" made top 20 on iTunes in 2009 off some urban compilation before being deleted later in the chart week.

I had a feeling it might have been a fake as well actually but I somehow convinced myself it wasn't. Definitely looks like it is one based on Thermo's post though. I wonder if these sales will be counted as official sales of 'Burn' since the remix is still credited to Ellie Goulding...

Perhaps, but its a remix. I'm unsure because there aren't usually 'fake' remixes about, rather those fake karaoke sort of versions that float around for a few days and get deleted.

The difference is that this 'fake' remix uses Ellie's vocals whereas most 'fake artists' record their own vocals. So the sales of this 'fake' will count towards Ellie's official sales I imagine.

It happened with R.I.P as well, there was mash-up of Rita's version and Drake's version that got fairly high on iTunes before its release. And I remember Tinie's name was spelt as "Tinnie" on it. :lol:
