Rihanna is set to release a concept album this year based around the upcoming animated DreamWorks film Home, according to Variety.

 

Jeffrey Katzenberg, CEO of DreamWorks Animation, announced the news Tuesday during the company's quarterly earnings call. Katzenberg said that Rihanna, who also stars in the film, will perform new songs, but did not provide any titles or the album's release date.

The film, set for release November 26th, revolves around a group of aliens that escape their enemies by hiding on Earth. Originally entitled Happy Smekday!, the 3D film is based on author Adam Rex's 2007 children's book The True Meaning of Smekday. Rihanna will star in the film as teenager Gratuity "Tip" Tucci alongside Jennifer Lopez, Steve Martin and Big Bang Theory's Jim Parsons.

Earlier today Complex Magazine reported that Rihanna has "left" her longtime label, Def Jam, joining the in-house imprint at Shawn "Jay Z" Carter's management company Roc Nation. The 26-year-old singer's next album, the follow-up to 2012's "Unapologetic,” will still be distributed by Def Jam, with an announcement on official plans expected "soon," according to sources.

Yeah I agree but the pink looks a mess to me. The same hair didn't look good on Nicki in the Fly video and it doesn't look great on her either

 

I actually wouldn't be surprised if she called this album 'R8', '#R8' or the early rumoured 'She'

So apparently Rihanna is going to be making an announcement on Thursday at the Hard Rock Cafe in Paris and the poster below is apparently to do with it. Rumours are now suggesting the album is called 'The R Device' and could even be the surprise iTunes release that is scheduled for this week, but this is of course speculation for the time being!

Not too fussed on the title if that is indeed what it is (I think i much preferred 'R8' which was circling around among the fans :o) but very excited nonetheless.

The announcement was that Rihanna has launched a charity t-shirt to raise money for The Clara Lionel Foundation, so that's a great cause and I hope it raises lots of money!

Glad that rumour isn't true, the R Device would be ridiculous as a title!!
