Bad Romance is a very well thought of Gaga single actually - plus why use Spice Up Your Life as a 'cultural hit'? Strange.

As it didn't sell very many for a lead Spices hit, but it was massive culturally + associated with them/ 90s.

The sales of Poker Face aren't far off that of Blurred Lines really.

Which is not massively impressive considering 'Poker Face' has been out for over 4 years and 'Blurred Lines' for about 3 months... :P Obviously 'Poker Face' was a big hit but it's not comparable to 'Blurred Lines' at all.

Yep, because everything in the Top 5 is SO something hipsters would dig :D

Well that wasn't the point of the post :)

Move yo' ass up the chart GaGa :arrr: At this rate she'll have another official chart #3 :drama:

Yeah but you're comparing a song that "didn't sell that many" (which is obviously total bullshit) with a song that's about to sell a million? You are just not for real, I'm sorry.

Poker Face has now become completely overshadowed by I Gotta Feeling.

And sales were lower 4 years ago so it was harder to achieve the millionth sale... And we could go on and on...

I agree SUYL is probably one of their more enduring hits and freshest sounding ever now, I would say that Wannabe still covers the cultural impact 90s and Spice-wise.

I think as more then million sellers both are still reasonably comparable at the moment. I am not having any go at the achievement of BL as I still really like it!

I agree there, it was almost instantly sales wise after 2009 and culturally!

Gaga's music is getting worse, I doubt she'll be able to top ' Bad Romance ' and ' Poker Face ' for me! I wasn't really a fan of anything during ' Born This Way ' era minus ' Judas'

I'm applauding that the public are not purchasing applause as much as I expected, ' Roar ' is much better (US) and ' Burn ' Is much better :D

Finish the quote please ...'for a Spice Girls' lead single'. And when comparing BR to BL, I was saying BR may nt have the sales of BL, but it was massive culturally sooo.

Edited by Michael!

I actually feel bad for The Wanted, it was good of them to try something new by releasing on air / on sale, but I think they've just killed their entire album campaign! ' We Own The Night ' is already easily my second favourite Wanted song, it might overtake ' Glad You Came ' but a peak of #9-11 is looking likely with one week in the top 10 :drama:

I'm not sure if Gaga will even make the top 3 now this week, hopefully not so Miley doesn't have a drop of 1-4.

I think The Wanted have done the right thing still, while 'We Own The Night' will get a lower peak of around #7 (there is no chance it will be out of the top 10 officially) than if it was held back, the increasing airplay on both radio and TV should mean it's fall down the chart will be nowhere near as quick as 'Walks Like Rihanna' and the majority of their other singles. It could still easily be one of their biggest selling singles as it will probably stay between #11 and #20 for quite a few weeks possibly in a similar way to 'Everything Has Changed' which basically charted due to the Britain's Got Talent performance and therefore no airplay and then as the airplay increased, the song stayed in the top 20 for several weeks.

Huh? "Blurred Lines" was/is still at #11. All these new entries have certainly given the T10 a clearout. Saying that, "Blurred Lines" is ahead of "Boom Boom" combined. Hoping The Wanted can fall a bit further and miss out on a T10 debut.

Ellie Goulding still ahead by quite a bit. Hoping the mixed reception to "Applause" will be enough to keep it from stealing Ellie's first #1 away.

oh god, all these pages over such a mediocre song! surprised with all the hype it isn't at 1 on itunes tbh

I don't think The Wanted will get a peak higher than #09 this week, it's dropping quite fast and it's only Tuesday. I don't think it should have been on air, I doubt Radio 1 will support it and I think Capital will hesitate supporting it as much especially if it's free falling down the charts (look at Notorious).

I don't think you can compare ' We Own The Night ' to ' Everything Has Changed ' as The Wanted are going to be incredibly front loaded and as I previously stated, I don't think it will do well on radio if it starts dropping fast next week!
