I think Drake probably has a better chance of making the top 40 than OneRepublic do although I think both will miss out (but be top 50 maybe). Drake has now got higher than he did with 'Started From The Bottom' :D Still not heard the new song but always good to see him doing well.

Obviously HOORAY for 'Burn' hitting #1. As most have said it's not quite her best and it does lack a bit of her personality (though I don't think it lacks all of it, you can tell it wasn't written with Ellie in mind but she succeeds at making it an Ellie song IMO) but it is still really good and it's fantastic to see her finally heading for a UK #1 single after the near miss of 'Your Song', which would have been a far worse song to be her 'only #1' IMO.

Surprised to see The Wanted actually going through with OA/OS and it looks like they're going to reap the benefits of it, performing very similarly to 'Wild' so far and I could see it having a similar chart run and massively outselling 'Walks Like Rihanna'. Could see it peaking at #4 as well though especially with the big gap between #3 and #4 right now.

And Arctic Monkeys actually releasing a song on a Sunday for once and thus looking like possibly getting their first top 10 hit for 6 years :o This era keeps getting bigger and bigger for them, 'AM' must be on course to do better than their last 2 albums (debut and longevity wise at least, it'd be difficult to beat them sales wise with overall album sales still rapidly collapsing).

Ray Foxx & Rachel K Collier looking on course for at least top 40, maybe top 20, as well. Hooray.

That post turned out unintentionally long.

Love long Bre posts just mean I don't have to comment because he says what I'm thinking!! :)

POOR Acid Rain. I always saw it as more of a blatant sample than Happiness (which I got away without knowing about deadmau5's involvement for quite a while) so it was incredibly unfortunate timing-wise that that far inferior Far East Movement mix beat it to the punch.

Interesting that came around through a discussion of Burn's production qualities, I'd never thought of it in the same breath as Got 2 Luv U. Incredibly happy to see it #1 though, it's one of Ellie's better songs and I've been loving it, it has a great amount of momentum and she's been putting out enough good music to be worthy of getting a #1, no matter what's it's with.

Does anyone know yet if Burn charted in the Top 200 this week thanks to the Alienator remix being in the charts for most of Sunday?

It wasn't in Wednesday's mids so it won't have made the final chart

30. Ray Foxx - Boom Boom (Heartbeat) [feat. Rachel K Collier] [Radio Edit]

93. The Vaccines - Melody Calling

514. Martin Solveig & The Cataracs - Hey Now (feat. Kyle) [single Mix]

I think it's been a while since we've had The Cataracs (or should we call him "The Catarac" now?) in the chart. Haven't heard this song, but I hope it can live up to Like a G6, but obviously that's a difficult task.

It just sounds like a Martin Solveig by numbers song to me, Eric, don't be expecting anything Bass Down Low/Like A G6-esque.
I think 'Get Up (Rattle)' is a lot better than 'Acid Rain' simply because AR has a really weak chorus (or is it weak verses? It's one or the other - I haven't heard it in months ).

Oh well. He did a song with Enrique Iglesias recently as well.

When the Arctic Monkeys were popular they used to play them, but I could never imagine them playing songs like those now.

When they were popular?

I've just posted this in the Katy forum, but I think some of you here will find it interesting too:

Katy was asked on Twitter whether 'Roar' was being released at midnight in the US only or worldwide and Katy replied:

WORLDWIDE (UK comes sooner than you think... but you can preorder NOW)

:cheer: So hopefully it'll be released here within a couple of weeks!

When they were popular?

Well, you know what I mean. There was that time when they were getting loads of media coverage, etc. Like they were a lot more popular back then than they are now.

When they were popular?

2005 (their debut) - 2007 (2nd album) when they had their big single success I suppose. It's not like they lost popularity through the years though.

Looking through their single peaks, I didn't reliase Crying Lightning came so close to the top 10; deserved #1 imo:(.

I cant believe Arctic Monkeys had 2 back-to-back #1 singles.

Really? Since I started following the charts, looking back at the charts from those years, there were loads of surprises (songs I never heard charting really high, and songs I used to hear all the time not charting), but that honestly didn't surprise me at all.

The Wanted ' We Own The Night ' is already in light red on kworb, seems like they've stalled at #05 and Arctic Monkeys are increasing quite fast, I'm not sure how ' We Own The Night ' will do, I think it might only spend one week top 10 now.

Arctic Monkeys have held up very well really.... getting two decent-selling #1 albums is pretty good for a band in the pop domination years of 2009-11. It's amazing to think that in 2006, they were being outsold by Snow Patrol and the Kooks, yet in the long run they've held up much better.

The song that had Kelly from Misfits in it's music video (i forgot what it's called) was the most surprising of all. It was around the same time as Nasty Girl by Notorious B.I.G and Hustla's Ambition by 50 Cent.

Katy Perry might enter the top 10 on pre orders today or just be outside the top 10.
