Posted August 14, 201311 yr It's out in Early September, heard it for the first time yesterday, and I think it might make number one zC90ZWfGM1I
August 14, 201311 yr Amazing song but doesn't seem to be picking up very much airplay so not sure whether it's going to be the hit it deserves to be. However the second single sounds like a smash and I've heard that she may be getting an X Factor slot
August 14, 201311 yr It doesn't have the magic to get it to number one, but I'm sure it'll get into the top 30, 20 if it gets more airplay.
August 15, 201311 yr It's out in Early September, heard it for the first time yesterday, and I think it might make number one I would love it to get to #1, but realistically, I think T10 is the best it could do.
August 15, 201311 yr Birdy's NEW song? More like her FIRST song. FINALLY decided to release something original.
August 15, 201311 yr Birdy's NEW song? More like her FIRST song. FINALLY decided to release something original. I think 'decided' is a bit harsh - remember she was only 14 when her first album came out, so would have had little or no say over which songs went on it.
August 15, 201311 yr I think 'decided' is a bit harsh - remember she was only 14 when her first album came out, so would have had little or no say over which songs went on it. I'm not sure what the logic is here. She's still a teenager now. What's the suppose age threshold for deciding what songs are on your album? I'm sure if someone else was in charge the song choices would be much less inspired (which would have been a good thing actually because I'd much rather have had her ruin a bunch of songs that have already been ruined than some actually really good songs that seemed safe from such ruinage but yanno).

Whoever started promoting (or signed or whatever) Birdy probably didn't want to waste money on writing new songs and just requested permission to use those songs to TEST THE WATERS. It worked so they are doing the original material now. But YEAH I wish she covered something shit too. Skinny Love! This should be a crime to cover this song because whoever covers it will most likely just ruin it beyond repair as the original is so close to perfection it hurts. Birdy fans will be heavily judged :D
August 15, 201311 yr I actually think it's very clever picking a load of obscure songs to cover. You can't say they were just karaoke versions... she "made them her own"!
August 15, 201311 yr I actually think it's very clever picking a load of obscure songs to cover. You can't say they were just karaoke versions... she "made them her own"! If by 'made them her own' you mean 'made great songs borderline unlistenable' I agree!
August 15, 201311 yr And if by 'clever' you mean 'incredible lazy' I agree! Edited August 15, 201311 yr by P∆VEL
August 15, 201311 yr If by 'made them her own' you mean 'made great songs borderline unlistenable' I agree! That may be the case for "People Help The People" but her "Skinny Love" took a rather insipid song and gave it some haunting beauty and lasting appeal. Hers is surely the definitive version of that now.
August 15, 201311 yr Loved Birdy's debut album and was looking forward to this but after hearing it I'm a bit like WTF?!? A #38 smash if she's lucky!
August 16, 201311 yr I'm not sure what the logic is here. She's still a teenager now. What's the suppose age threshold for deciding what songs are on your album? The threshold is not age, but previous success. Whoever started promoting (or signed or whatever) Birdy probably didn't want to waste money on writing new songs and just requested permission to use those songs to TEST THE WATERS. It worked so they are doing the original material now. But YEAH I wish she covered something shit too. Skinny Love! Birdy fans will be heavily judged :D Oh come on, Bon Iver's original of Skinny Love was so insipid - Birdy's sweet mournful voice injected much-needed emotion into it!

August 17, 201311 yr When you are a beginning artist you basically let the company have their way, when you've tasted success the company will allow you to make demands.
August 17, 201311 yr http://31.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_mcu2p1WLAw1qii6tmo1_500.gif Only Bon Iver's. I have to ask - how many people here had even *heard* of Bon Iver, until Birdy covered 'Skinny Love'? I certainly hadn't!
