I think if ever Rihanna missed a trick during her A Girl Like Me era, it was not releasing the Rock-Reggae 'Kisses Don't Lie'. :( But then again, it is traditional of Rihanna to leave a standout track unreleased ('Breakin' Dishes', 'Photographs', 'Man Down', 'Cockiness'). :drama:

Replace 'Photographs' () with 'Fire Bomb'.

+1. Photographs is terrible, one of my least favourite Rihanna songs.

(the non-single highlight clearly being G4L)

I lick the gun when I'm done 'cos I know that revenge is sweet.

My favourite track was definitely 'Rockstar 101', although the idea to try and release it as a single was a HUGE mistake. No way that was ever gonna work.

Ahh, such a great album. Why can't she do something this good again? :(

I think we must be the only ones who like Photographs. I can't understand why so many people hate it, it seems inoffensive to me.

Photographs is like the ONLY weak song on Rated R

Yeah, it's a tune!!

I really want Rihanna to release one of the Chase & Status collabs as a single one day. I think she's done 5 now, none were ever singles. :( I bet if she had recorded R.I.P it would've got left as an album track too.

This is classic example of my unpopular music opinions. I think 'Fire Bomb' is overrated. 'Photographs' is really fresh imo - especially when you consider that it is produced by will.i.am. I love Rihanna's really emotionless vocals too. Will's rap (which is scarily similar to his rap in CK) does slightly ruin the song though. 'Te Amo' and 'Russian Roulette' will always remain the best RR tracks for me though.

Same. It's surely the most inoffensive track on RR.

will.i.am's part in Photographs does sound out of place. Not so much the rap itself, but how it's a nice acoustic, summery, airy song then suddenly goes all electro/autotune for 45 seconds.

As much as i like it, Firebomb is definitely overrated i agree there (as well as on those album highlights you mentioned), but everything will.i.am seems to touch just turns to dirge so i'm probably biased on that front.

Well on such a brave album, something as tacky and "inoffensive" as that stands out for the worse imo

Are we getting new Rihanna this year? She really needs to take what made Rated R so good and try to replicate that in some way.

One of the worst things she's done. That and Birthday Cake.

Reading this gave me Spice Girls 'Weekend Love' vibes. It's a sweet song and then out of the blue Mel B shouts/raps a verse and it is beyond jarring.

Tbh I always found 'Hard' to be the lowlight of the album. It's a good song but when taking into consideration the buzz around it back in 2010, I just grew to dislike it. At least I can listen to it now which can't be said for three years ago.

There's this whole "R8" thing going around the internet but I don't know. I saw photos of her with A$AP in New York but I think that may be for his video rather than hers. The thing is, she could afford to do "a Rated R" off the back of such a monster era like GGGB but Unapologetic has sort of died so an edgy record might not be the best thing.

They're the two best songs on TTT (bar 'We Found Love'). :o But then that isn't exactly difficult when the alternatives are the likes of 'Farewell' and 'We All Want Love'. :kink:

Well now you're just committing one of those infamous crimes again calling Hard the lowlight

And i disagree with that second part. Now would be the best time to release something edgy given people clearly weren't here for stuff like Right Now / Pour It Up. Whatever she does it needs substance which a lot of Unapologetic just lacked :(

Farewell was awesome! :o It was like Airplanes with no rapping.

As for the A$AP Rocky thing, I think she might be in the music video for Fashion Killa (which is currently #79).

In 2003 did people think Sean Paul would be getting top 10 hits in 2013?

Sean Paul & 50 Cent were everywhere in 2003, I use hear their songs everyday on the radio, on TV, at school, on the streets when i was in year 7.

Probably people did think that he would be getting hits 10 years later since he was just breaking through in the mainstream around 2002/3.

I think Temperature is one of Sean Paul's best (and most well-known) songs, and that came out in 2006.

For me it's We Be Burnin that is his best song. It should have been #1, it's much better than Pussycat Dolls Don't Cha.

I'm not sure how much longer 50 Cent has got in him. I was watching an interview of him recently, and he was saying he's never going to match the success of In Da Club again. I was so shocked, he's usually really cocky and saying he'll top it. Maybe he's just grown up now. Plus, I remember him saying in one of his songs that he's only got 1 or 2 albums left on his contract.

I don't think there's been a single from a girl group that did as well as Don't Cha in the charts since then. Maybe About You Now by the Sugababes. But I would have preferred some of their other song (e.g. Beep, Buttons, Wait a Minute, Jai Ho) to have that success.

On the note of 2003 who remembers this classic tune? it would be awesome if this re-entered the chart.

I don't know it's just a bit hollow to me. Don't get me wrong it's not bad but there was crazy hype for it back in early 2010 and I just didn't think it was justified especially when the amazing 'Te Amo' has gone unnoticed (even if it did peak top 20).

Yeah you're probably right actually. Definitely agree re: RN. How did that even make the album? 'Pour It Up' was amazing though. It was definitely edgy compared to the safety of 'Diamonds' (I mean, Sia isn't the most imaginative choice ) and other songs on the album. Shame it flopped hard. :( It did well in the US though I think.

Talking of PCD, 'Buttons' is by far their best song and should've gone to #1. I'm sure most of the songs that peaked at #2 and #3 in the summer of 2006 should've been #1.

That Lumidee song is awesome. I loved all the songs that used the Diwali Riddim (although I have no idea which song did it first, was it Get Busy?).

Pour It Up is awesome. Better than Bandz a Make Her Dance in my opinion.

Wayne Wonder used it in No Letting Go, don't know who used it first but i remember there was an Elephant Man song that used the Diwali Riddim as well.
